Hey guys,
So I was thinking about some new strategies to keep things exciting. So, I know that some ppl have used Bollinger Bands to predict when price is about to move and then put in Straddles when the BBs are greatly contracted. Taking the NDX as an example. The last week of july, NDX...
So, it seems like someone with a moderately profitable advisory service could generate additional income by starting one of these. However, the field seems very unregulated...no need for qualified investors or anything. So, how would one start such an advisory service and make sure that future...
Yeah, what does that mean? I tried daytrading 1 summer in college a decade ago and gave up cuz I didnt want to wake up at 6am (west coast) and preferred to sleep in and party and go to classes that summer instead...but I now have a variety of investment vehicles from longterm...
There are clear barriers to entry to becoming a doctor or lawyer or scientist or ironworker or architect or whatevers that do not exist in becoming a daytrader (standardized education, licensing, formalized apprenticeship). In fact, you do not need a college degree or even a high school degree...
Some people here poo-poo paper trading (like reading an army manual in your living room vs. being in Iraq), but I think it is an excellent place to start and test your systems. Speaking of which, develop a system first...don't f' around hoping to fall on an awesome system. There are a bunch of...
Cuil sucks. According to Cuil.com, there is no such thing as asian porn on the internet. If you can't find a single asian porn website on the internet, your search engine is clearly not very good at finding stuff.
Usually I try to sell put vertical spreads after recent upticks of IVs, but as the past couple weeks have demonstrated...the IV could just keep going higher and higher.
In such instances, even when you think you're pretty safe at a certain distance, I would go out even further so you make...
I once heard a VC give a talk about doing business in Shanghai. He said that when investors go to Shanghai to invest, they like to sit across the Huangpu RIver and stare at the Bund and see the bright lights and the tall shiny buildings, but that that wasn't the real Shanghai or China...the real...
Nah, it ain't Don...unless Don is 29, with no college education but a supposedly "voracious" reader and "semi-pro" poker player (whatever that is).
Yeah, it is West LA and he is likely overexagerating...but he does say he avgs $100k/day on the days that he daytrades when he isn't playing...
So, I am not a day trader...solely do option trades that are usually held 2-5 days so not too familiar with what kind of capital and expectancies ppl have to day trade full time.
But a friend of mine, her new boyfriend told me and my wife that he avgs. 100k/day day trading in addition to...
Another suggestion with making the PaperMoney TOS fills more realistic is maybe even using NDX. Even in real-life, TOS tends to fill NDX spreads only .05 away from the mid and 0.1 is practically guaranteed fill.
2% a month is doable with "minimal" risk. Spreads can get you there but you have to know when to enter and when not to. Can't predict the market direction, but at least have a general idea of market sentiment.
Also, managing losses is important, cuz if the market goes against you, the...
Even juiced, hitting 756+ homers in the MLB against juiced pitchers is a huge accomplishment, how many of us can do it?
But, if you're looking for a new sport to follow, MMA is where it is at! UFC, WEC, etc...a million times better than boxing!
a some things:
Rolling out=taking a loss. I hate these people who say they are adjusting when in reality they are losing and just opening new trades. Just man up and say i lost (such as I did last week).
I still think ICs are okay, because you can make that condor spread its wings as far...
I predict tommorrow DOW +20-50, S&P +4-10. The day after that....down similar amount.
Of course, this is based on zero research and is akin to saying, "I think the roulette wheel will land on red this time"
