    Malaysian market

Malaysian Ringgit is not freely traded on international forex market. Will Ringgit currency pair be available on IBKR as well? If Ringgit is not easily accessible, even if Malaysian stocks are available, how can international investors buy Malaysian stocks?

Safe phone habits/practices to protect money from online hackers/scammers

Ensure smartphone settings are set to minimize security risks The most dangerous device to be hacked in my possession is my smartphone. I guard my phone with the same level of security as I did for my rifle during National Service (all Singaporean males are conscripted for 2 years). If you own...

    Any George Noble NOPE fans?

This new ETF is closing. That was a quick end. Lives up to its symbol name NOPE. NOPE ETF has dropped 59% since its September debut. In the mean time, S&P 500 rose 23% Nasdaq 100 jumped some 36%. I would like to hear from the fund manager what lessons he has learnt from this debacle. He has...

Singapore Day Trader Tax with Oversees Brokers

I'm a Singaporean. Zero capital gains tax over here. 30% withholding tax on dividends from U.S stocks. This withholding tax is imposed by the U.S. government. Zero tax on dividends(local and foreign stocks) from the Singapore government. Singapore is a paradise for capitalists.

My story on a narrow escape from FTX. Could have escaped 100% but didn't ...

Good point. I can only speak for myself. The 5% yield on FTX last year was for liquid cash that I can deploy at a moment's notice for my delta-neutral positions. The lending interest was far more attractive than 5%. I wrote software to monitor the lending interest. Take a look at some of the...

My story on a narrow escape from FTX. Could have escaped 100% but didn't ...

I don't understand. If FTX were running a Ponzi scheme and running out of money, the last thing they want to do is limiting the yield to the first 100k. This change of policy encourages the big whales with millions in FTX to withdraw their funds. It does not make sense for Ponzi scammers to do this.

My story on a narrow escape from FTX. Could have escaped 100% but didn't ...

In an earlier post, I wrote about how I made a stable income on FTX before the whole fraud unravelled. It is easy to learn the wrong lessons in investing because an investor can make money despite being very wrong. Customers of FTX who escaped with some profits should not gloat about it. They...

Giving up on my dream of trading for a living

Thank you for sharing your humbling experience. One thing stood out in your experience. Your trading capital as a full-time trader was $150,000 and that represented your entire savings. I don't know what is your monthly cost of living. While $150,000 is a decent sum as savings, it certainly...

Do CFD providers lose money when customers make money? Any problem if you're profitable?

One major advantage CFDs have over futures is flexibility in position sizing. Traders with small accounts find the position size of even 1 futures contract too large for their appetite. This makes it difficult for managing risk. CFDs allow for much smaller position sizes. Most customers of CFDs...

Do you mind revealing what you estimate as enough profits to be noticed?

Tradingview Charts now part of TWS (Beta)

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm already on TradingView Pro+. While I like TradingView charting features, I didn't like keying in IBKR orders in TradingView. I had a bad experience with lag while keying in orders and never tried it again. It's risky to have lag when making orders. My preference...

Tradingview Charts now part of TWS (Beta)

I have deleted my other reply so that this thread that you started won't be derailed. I like this new feature very much. I like both IBKR and TradingView. If not, I won't be using both actively. I'm not a troll but it's unavoidable to get greedy as a customer sometimes :) I think it's ok to be...

Tradingview Charts now part of TWS (Beta)

Ok. I guess I'm asking too much to have Pinescript integrated into IBKR. It'll be good if I can use my customized pinescripts on TWS and use it on IBKR to key in the orders. Having a subscription to TradingView cannot be avoided in this case. Thanks for starting this thread and bringing this...

Tradingview Charts now part of TWS (Beta)

This thread is about using TradingView inside TWS, not using TradingView separately. I don't think I count as rich but I can still afford TradingView :)

Tradingview Charts now part of TWS (Beta)

Pinescript cannot be used in the TradingView charts inside TWS. That is not good for traders who have their own proprietary stuff.

Tradingview Charts now part of TWS (Beta)

Did anyone manage to get dark mode to work on the Tradingview charts in TWS? This is important to people with sensitive eyes to glare. No dark mode is a show-stopper for them.

As far as I know, this cannot be done because IB CFDs cannot be found on TradingView.

    Market observations and actions

This has not been a good year for my stock portfolio. This year had been characterized by bear market rallies which whipsawed my stock portfolio (more on that later). It is a year to be remembered for risk management and survival through decisive exits. About 4 months ago in June 2022, I...
