    Mechanical vs Technical Trading

I've just finished back testing a trading strategy I have been learning from 'Trading for a Living' and on the GBPUSD from 1st March until 19 May, profit realisation would have been 1614 (best scenario) / 2 = 807 potential? Is this a good return over 2.5 months? EDIT: My strategy involves...

I PMed this to ElectricSavant and thought it'd be best posting it here, too. I enjoy reading your posts :D BTW, I am designing a trading strategy involving entry/exits on fib retracements. Is this mechanical or discretionary and is fib retracements reliable? I have read that this is...

Is manual trading on fib retracements classed as a technical or fundemental system and what is the success of trading fib retracements?

    Mechanical vs Technical Trading

So, a manual mechanical system would have a longer shelf life than an automated one, because you can always adjust the different circustances, correct?

How did you save up enough to trade?

Ok. Did you start from scratch designing your own trading strategy all three times? What has helped you this time to stay above the water? How long has it taken you to build up 5k into something liveable?

    Mechanical vs Technical Trading

Hi, I am a little confused between the differences of mechanical trading versus technical trading. Does one offer more stability over the other, long-term? What is the primary difference between the two? Thanks

How did you save up enough to trade?

How do day traders and position traders assign their funds? For example, if a position trader had a total of 100k to trade with, would he only use 20% (20k) and leave the remainder for a rainy day, or would he trade the whole sum?

How did you save up enough to trade?

I was just wondering how most traders saved up for their first trading account i.e. put aside money from their paychecks, etc and how long it took them to afford enough to begin trading. I have been saving money from my work for over 18 months and I finally have enough for some tuition funds...

can i retire in 5 years starting with 5,000$ ?

So that means anyone starting out with less than 100k might find it pointless trading (on 1.5% monthly). And I thought I could make a living on my 25k (+3k tuition)

can i retire in 5 years starting with 5,000$ ?

Wow, 500% six months compounded. What was his average monthly return? I thought it was impossible for traders to maintain even above 10-15%

    Recommend a broker?

Mmmm... ok, one helpful reply  GCITrading and GFXSA have a good platform (going by the demo), hence my preferrence with them. Other brokers such as forex.com and FXCM have a bad rep among traders here, from what I have read. Oanda I would consider, but they only seem to offer...

    Recommend a broker?

Hi all, Does anyone have any recommendations for a decent forex brokers, that preferrably supports sterling accounts (or at least Euros)? A broker that hopefully offers a fast and reliable platform, is fair, has a good history and tight spreads. I have looked at IB and Oanda, but I'm...
