Why you should learn to code

My own approach is to build a portfolio of systems that are as different as possible to each other, and keep adding more over time. Diversification and a long investment horizon smooth out volatility of returns. No dependency on specific strategies.

Why you should learn to code

I think the duration of ‘proof’ depends on the strategy or investment process. If the strategy takes 5 to 10 trades a day, this would give up to say 1000 trades in 6 months. Plenty of proof for me especially if done over a longer horizon. The process edge, if actually present, should clearly...

Why you should learn to code

Hi - market conditions constantly change. To what extent do you feel the warning of ‘past performance is not a reliable guide to future results ‘ applies? Is it safe to extrapolate from historic results? Just how useful are non curve fitted back tests? Your opinion..

Why you should learn to code

Why you should learn to code

The process is to combine risk management, psychology and a market edge of some kind to take money from other trading accounts that belong to very smart participants in a zero sum game. Making full time trading viable

Hi - about 8 years ago when I started trading, I did most of my trades within the forex market. Could never trust the brokers and forex being largely unregulated, I switched to futures on tradestation. I haven’t looked back...

    Making full time trading viable

Win rate is always important although it can be lower if the risk/reward ratio is high. However, low hit rate strategies can have bigger drawdowns and for longer, making them difficult to stick with. .

    Making full time trading viable

Thanks. Note:- I am willing to fund the process, I just don’t have enough. Slippage has been factored in. Agree that live trading is different to sim/ backtest. However backtest is the starting point for testing an idea
