    Dayson Capital

I am not interviewing for a position in the Pilot Program as listed on their website. The Quantitative PM role listed there is what I think BhillYachtsman is/was doing with them. This is something different. And I fail to see how a fund's status as open or closed leads to a conclusion...

No, they do not require a capital contribution. From what I understand, they are looking to bring on some new traders in an entry level role (not sure how many) and teach them to trade their methodology(ies), etc. Somewhat similar to the Turtles of Richard Dennis in the 80s.

    Dayson Capital

I'm looking to gather some information about Dayson Capital. I've come across just one other post from BhillYachtsman who took a job managing a portfolio remotely for them. I am set to interview with them this week and would like to hear from anyone with direct or indirect knowledge of...

Que pasa? I had to leave town unexpectedly but back now and thinking that I haven't missed much of anything. Anyone else ready for the summer market to be over?

Yeah, not too much going on today. Haven't made a single trade yet either.

I'm with you, Romik. Generally I don't like to trade Fed announcement days because all I have is Bloomberg TV telling me hike or no hike and the boys on the floor tend to be more interested in the text of the decision. This is a situation where I am at a clear disadvantage and just sit on...

One thing I'm not is an economist but the way I understand it the markets are worried that the Fed will overdo it with the rate hikes and put recessionary pressures on the economy. Higher rates=costlier for business to borrow money for expansion=slower business growth. That could mean...

And no need to force what isn't there. As always, there's more than one way to skin a cat. And to go completely off topic here, I've got a book recommendation that I figure Gary, as a former sailor and soldier, and many of you will enjoy. The book, Warlord: No better friend, No worse...

If you pick your spots and go with high probability trades, even days like today can be profitable.

Haha. That doesn't really surprise me. Although difficult to gauge someone's age from a few lines of text here and there, I've been pretty mature for my age since my late teens. You know, way back when. :) As far as the years between graduation and now, I was a financial advisor for AmEx...

Those are some good blowup stories. As I'm still a young pup of 27, I've had neither the time nor the account balance to make $100k doozies--thankfully. To get the first part out of the way, my name is Matt and I live in Houston but looking to get back to Austin in the near future. I'm a UT...

What's the saying? Good things come to those who wait? I love it. The eCBOT is down for 2 and half hours so I play a little online poker and get to watch To Kill a Mockingbird on TV while I wait. It re-opens, gives me a short signal and BAM, there's my day. :)

Well, MDT. The CBOT is still on the fritz but depending on where your stop is/was, that short may be doing just fine right now.

Ain't it a pain in the ass? Luckily I am flat. Getting better at trading these choppy days, I guess.

What time frame do most daytraders here use?

233 and 377 tick charts. I like the way tick charts show me the speed of the market versus time bars/candles. Why would I want to sit on my hands waiting for a 5 min candle to close while the market takes off?

Man, it's about time we got a nice trend to ride. That was great. MDT, hope you were in on the slide during the first 30 minutes. Now if only I could replicate this everyday! :D

I'm so tired of the Fed having such an impact on the market. Had a nice long going until the friggin Beige Book came out. Barely escaped with a profit on my second half. Nothing to contribute, just needed to vent.

Don't sweat it, MDT. It was pretty choppy this morning. A lot of traders out there don't even have rules that dictate their max daily loss and it is to their detriment, IMHO. Go cut that grass, don't look at your charts for the rest of the trading day and come back ready to go tomorrow.

Looking at various Time Segmented Volume (TSV) studies on hourly and daily charts for the index.
