Help with building a hedged value dividend portfolio

Yes my account was up 400k, at its peak in April of 2019 so a very short time from when I entered in Oct of 18. My goal wasn't trying to ironclad protect that gain per say, but overall create a steady stream of around 100k/yr in capital gains. I have very complex tax returns, in short I have...

Help with building a hedged value dividend portfolio

My underlying wasn't nor did it need to be profitable. The hedge was more to address volatility as well as some way to come out on top if the market tanked.

Help with building a hedged value dividend portfolio

I'm not sure if I made it clear with my initial description. The whole premise of what I am doing is largely to not have all my personal net worth in one bucket Chicago RE. The secondary goal is to create long gains that I can take in at 0% tax value. Of everything I am doing I would say that...

Help with building a hedged value dividend portfolio

From a unique situation due to my primary work being a landlord and an S-Corp business owner I have a tremendous amount of paper losses and the ability to drop down my AGI through aggressive elective retirement funding. In short, this creates an opportunity for me to bury long term capital gains...

Is possible to group together options and stock of same underlying

Yes I am aware of how to do that, but I mean specifically link an option to an underlying. So as if they were purchased together intially as a combo order.

Is possible to group together options and stock of same underlying

I sold some calls on positions I already own, is it possible in IB to manually group these together as buy-writes?

    IB order fills

I assumed it must be some type of bot, the exactly 234 seconds over and over again seemed too odd. Is there a specific defensive strategy I should pursue when I encounter this? My order wasn't hidden

    IB order fills

I have a position in bio tech I am selling off as a scale order. In general the stock is pretty low volume. I noticed that when I am the lowest seller (my sell order shows up), when there are no other orders for a while exactly a single one of my shares sells at my ask every 3 minutes and 54...

Advice on what to do with idle cash held at IB that needs to stay at IB

It has taken some getting used to but your "cash figure" in a portfolio margin account is almost irrelevant. It is all about available funds. For example, I could short sell 1 million dollars in stock and I would increase the cash balance in my account bu 1 million, but it doesn't mean that my...

How to view maintenance and initial margin of all positions?

This month IB made a change with their Margin calculations that resulted in a 20% jump in my initial margin vs what it was previously with no change in my positions. After contacting them I was told they switched from the initial margin just being 10% over the maintenance margin to that amount...

Advice on what to do with idle cash held at IB that needs to stay at IB

As a result of several large short SPX options spreads, I have about 800k USD in idle cash with Interactive Brokers. Due to my maintenance margin, my "available funds" falls very very short of this amount and I am looking for something to do with the "idle cash". Currently, I have the money...

    COTY buy-write implications on Tender

Why is the stock trading below the tender offer, coudn't I just buy shares right now at 11.22 and then sell them to JAB for 11.65?

    COTY buy-write implications on Tender

I purchased a COTY buy/write at Jan 2020 8 strike price for 5.87 back in DEC. Obviously, the stock price has far exceeded that strike price for some time and now there is the tender offer. I am getting a message from IB, about the tender offer at 11.65/share. Does anyone have any advice on...

Why with 3Mil in positions are no stocks are being lent

So you think they ding you for option spreads? It seems contrary to what they have on their website. Just for the life of me I can't get an answer out of them of even what my calculation is. I spend an hour on chat just trying to explain to them my question

Why with 3Mil in positions are no stocks are being lent

This appears to be their exact calculation, I'm not sure how selling boxes fits into it. I would think that falls under a covered spread. I wish they let you run a report to see the calculation For IB-LLC customers, if (settled cash - settled short stock value - OCC naked options margin) < 0...

Why with 3Mil in positions are no stocks are being lent

I've been trying to get a straight answer from IB. They initially told me that none of my stocks are being lent, because there is no interest. I then ask about the payment in lieu of dividend and they conceded things are being lent because I bought on margin. I just can't get an answer from them...

Why with 3Mil in positions are no stocks are being lent

From IB. I really just want a straight answer where i can see the calculation they are doing. If you are receiving Payments in Lieu of dividends (PILs) then your stocks are being lent out. You are receiving a payment from the short seller who is borrowing your securities rather from the issuer...
