    Option Pit

When I got into options, I figured there were approval levels 1,2,3 and 4. Well similarly there seem to be learning levels 1,2,3,4. Sure, there are. Sometimes you can make level 1 learning work with good money management, good risk management, maybe an understanding of charts to remove some...

The Ratio Put Spread That Has Boomed For Mega tech and SPY

Basically a commentary on 2010-2019 market.

    Software for options backtesting data?

Sure, I think this discussion is getting prolonged but hey maybe someone else has similar requirements. I do not work on alerts. I may be in a meeting, I may be sleeping, I may be in a plane, I can not work on alerts and I do not. I try to find time every day before work to adjust my positions...

    Software for options backtesting data?

Thanks. I usually check these things out and don’t need a refund the only challenge being I am set in my ways and new learning makes me pick more trades than I can mentally track (I hardly “analyze” on UI, it is all Ameritrade’s mobile app, and in my head). Will plan the video for next weekend...

    Software for options backtesting data?

Ha ha I am not trying without watching but I am also not watching without knowing I can use it.

    Software for options backtesting data?

One thing that I was not able to figure out ... and I only watched 2 minutes here and there ... what platform does it run on? Will it run on a Mac? Will it run on an iPad? How about a phone?

What % of your P&L is going to commissions?

So true, but it has been a phenomenal experience getting more systematic, and lowering risk but we have not seen February "event" recur so you never know. Hoping to turn it around to positive range by end of year and if that were to happen, all commissions and all tuitions are forgiven.

Three questions regarding selling iron condors

Agree with what Kim said. To the op, Iron condors can be quite risky if market moves heavily and when you are in expiry week, you sometimes hardly have any time to react. There are people who do not like iron condors, and there are people who do, but in general they are deceptively attractive...

@gate - did you ever get something out of the appeal ?

    Stops

Are they long options or short? Are they in the money or out? Are they simple options or strategies? Are these liquid products or fairly illiquid? Based on what you said (as I have seen such suggestions somewhere else) I suspect you are looking at simple OTM long options but specifics will...

200 shares of SPY bought at 286 - any way to rescue or generate income?

Fully on board with what you said 85.

200 shares of SPY bought at 286 - any way to rescue or generate income?

I thought he was one of the good guys. Ok, let me also keep shut and watch this forum (Options section) for a month before making further judgements. I wish I had a question (ref iron chef + others talk yesterday) but I am self sufficient in what I do and there is lot to read in what I don't.

Repair Strategy for NFLX Short Put

I was very amused to see a thread on another website (or was it here) which said you know I am not writing puts, but covered call works ... the best strategy. Everyone was LOL.

200 shares of SPY bought at 286 - any way to rescue or generate income?

I don’t believe it more than I don’t believe Buffett. A broker statement can give this data and I find it funny given that broker statements are being requested from others but this can not be found. If not for this forum, at least for IRS I hope OP can explain how much money was made at least...

200 shares of SPY bought at 286 - any way to rescue or generate income?

Since the previous post was on topic, I thought I will chime in. Sorry I replied. I will comment as I feel fit but there is no helping you. Best of luck.

200 shares of SPY bought at 286 - any way to rescue or generate income?

I think you are confusing things. The only way to never lose money is buy and hold (since you never take a loss until you get into profit) but then you get hit with Enron, Worldcom, Lehman and what not so what do you do? The other way (the trading way) is to take a chance. You bet on the odds...

SPX vs SPY - spread comparison and greeks

Yes, (anecdotal based on limited observations) NDX does not decay the same as SPX. Have seen that and currently seeing it. You just need to work around it and I think subconsciously trade NDX and SPX differently although it will be good for me to actually write down the differences.

    Kim Klaiman's Steady Options

I did not ask for any IP. This is a public forum AFAIK and unless it is someone's personal journal, I will comment as I feel the need to. I have no love or hate towards anyone but the last few days have been too funny. I repeat, I did not ask for any IP.
