Hypothetical; $DWDP leaves Dow Jones, replaced by $AMZN

The only issue concerning the split is the necessity for $AMZN to be trading in a range that is in the midst of the Dow 30 Index. It could not be a part of the Index at $1800. Any liquid stock is tradeable, I would think.

Hypothetical; $DWDP leaves Dow Jones, replaced by $AMZN

Seems that Dow DuPont will have to exit the Dow this June or so. Isn't it likely that Bezos will split Amazon 6 or 7 for one to take a place on the Index?

    Smart Money Still Not Buying

I believe that regardless of what the so-called Smart Money is doing, capital flows are fleeing Europe and coming to the U.S. markets for the stability.

The exodus of New York City’s endangered middle class

A relevant blog post.... https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/world-news/taxes/mass-exodus-from-nyc-due-to-taxes/ Quote; ---------- Taxes have begun to cross the point of no return in New York City. New York City is losing its middle class faster than at any time since the Great Depression...

Which is the best day of the week to buy stocks historically?

I have attended several of the webinars that Larry Williams has presented over the years and one of the things that he tracks is best day of a given week, best days of the month et cetera. However I don't recall whether or not he pins it down to "Wednesdays" or "Fridays". I think he would try to...

Buyer Beware: Tradestation will flag you as a professional if you don't use gmail, yahoo, etc

Seems that you could open a gmail account or whatever and just have the Tradestation mail forwarded to your preferred address. I understand that at this point you would prefer to leave Tradestation; just an observation in the event it were to happen again in the future.

Profitable Options Traders - Long Term

Maybe, maybe not. However I provided an example of one account that is devoted to just trading options. A account set up in February just to provide an independent statistic for myself. Personally I've been trading as a full time occupation since 1991. There are good years, bad years and okay...

Profitable Options Traders - Long Term

I trade Equity Options when I have time. Primarily I trade Futures. I opened a small account in February to see if I could isolate the return trading just Options, and I try to mirror my options trades in other accounts by also trading them there. The account was set up with $30K. I took an...

    how do you trade es/nq?

Don't you have a problem with changing Renko parameters for each Market? I tried Renko, some many years back, and I recall that I needed to adjust the inputs depending on the Market. Not so? Then of course, the parameters needed to be adjusted on a regular basis. Or was I incorrect?

    how do you trade es/nq?

I think that you have to arrive at what makes you comfortable. I am most comfortable taking only a couple of trades each day, at most. I cannot go in and out looking for a few points here and there. I try to determine what trade may provide the most gain for the least Risk; have a series of...

    Trading with Renko Bars

Been awhile, but don't you have to adjust the brick size depending on the Price and Volatility of the underlying? If I recall correctly, that's the issue I had when I tried Renko some years ago. I can't quickly go from one Instrument to another without compensating for the change and you have...

    Buffett's psychology

I believe that Buffett is an excellent Market Timer. He was steeped in economics and markets at an early age, and by the time he was 27 knew more about them than most people learn in a lifetime. Long term Investing is a byproduct of knowing "when" to Invest.

Where to park excess cash in account?

You might be able to allow Treasury Direct to access your account so you may Buy Bills and Notes from the Trade Account and have them replace the Funds upon Maturity.

What do you do with your excess cash?

We recently sold our home, and decided to rent. I set up ladders for my wife and I using Treasury Direct. One Ladder rotates a set amount of Cash in 13 week Bills. So every week a Bill Matures and gets re-invested on a 3 month cycle (13 separate Bills). The other Ladder rotates an amount...

[Thinkorswim] What will happen to the options if left unexercised until maturity

I had a minute, so here are two that jumped out. I haven't read them myself, but when I scanned them a few years ago they seemed okay. http://ptgmedia.pearsoncmg.com/images/9780133964028/samplepages/9780133964028.pdf http://ptgmedia.pearsoncmg.com/images/9780133087895/samplepages/0133087891.pdf

Cohen has a couple of pdf files available. If you do a search using his name and Options you should find two or three that you can download.

[Thinkorswim] What will happen to the options if left unexercised until maturity

The more that I read this thread, the thought occurs to me that you should grab a book by McMillan or Natenberg to bone up on Options. Probably McMillan would be best for you. Guy Cohen is another.
