I might have gotten this backwards but isn't May trying to stop Brexit and that is why there were a lot of politicians around her that left in protest ? If true, I'd say there's a probability of >80% that Soros is behind it.
Question. If you are an IB-UK customer and UK finally decides to make Brexit a reality, instead of just talking, that would make UK a non-EU country. Would that change things here or is it the residency/citizenship of the customer that decides ?
This tells me volatility is perceived as the most important change for you. I agree it is important. Personally I like to look at additional things such as where the broad market is and money flow, but that's just my perception and it can change.
On the top of my head these two are important in my opinion:
The market is always in a unique state at a specific point in time. There are never exactly the same players active at any one point in time as in another point in time. Situations can be very similar but not exactly the same...
I finished a draft of a trade plan for trading weekly credit spreads and attach it here as a simple text file. It's a work in prgress at the moment and I haven't studied all identified methods yet but it's a start. Feel free to comment and critique it. :)
Thank you Sig. I was not aware of this. I intend to use SPX and NDX as underlyings. They are quite liquid even for OTM options. Still if a spread becomes wide the margin algorithm should of course never become higher than a maximum of the spread width.
I'll laborate with a paper account to...
This is a great question in my humble opinion.
Bringing up "this is the text book on how to look at/perform X" should always be listened to and payed respect to both when just starting out learning and when experienced. They are there for a reason, same as cliches. Why ? Well, like them or not...
Ok, "leverage only what you can afford to back up with cash". That makes good sense to me.
I think that made my brain click finally on how to view margin.
Understanding the actual algorithms used could of course be useful (I'm a bit of a math nerd so I probably will try and understand that just...
Hi step and thank you.
I consider myself as fairly conservative which comes from being burnt earlier which triggered me to study a number of courses from recognized successful traders focusing on consistency. I should have added that I aim for consistency with a balance (low variance) in equity...
Good evening gurus,
I have a question on margin which is hopefully best related to the risk management sub-forum.
I did a personal self-evaluation a couple of weeks ago and found that selling OTM credit spreads on large liquid indices suits my own personality and style when it comes to...
You have given thought and taken time to reflection ras72.
Not many do even superficially. Your comment tells me so.
You have done it all the way. That is my observation.
Thank you for letting me become aware there are others that explore
the mind.
It gets lonely sometimes but my senses are...
There's a lot of wisdom in your conclusions Pricechange and I enjoy reading
your personal journey since it is similar to mine and at the same time totally different.
Doing retrospective on your post Pricechange I come to the same conclusion:
A stable mind creates stable trading.

Hi Elite traders.
I have tried for about two years to construct an as automated as possible system
for a trade plan I have worked on that fits me and that I believe in.
During this time I only worked with a single broker and their platform and API.
What I found is that you can only do so much...
