I believe Bitcoin is a 'cryptocurrency', and not itself a bank-like institution with the ability to transfer funds. Did you mean one of the exchanges? In either case, that would not be a good option. I have zero interest in dealing with such exotic instruments or exchanges.

I think their status page is not automatic, and requires a manual intervention to update. So not sure it's useful to check until an hour (or more) after the problem is apparent.
