New to this thread. I had no trouble at all setting up tick level backtesting on 5 minute charts using NinjaTrader. Just a few extra lines of code and some double checking on my part.

This thread interests me because I have begun publishing reviews of futures trading systems over the past few months. Most simply, it is a practical question -- can you make money trading by using the system? It doesn't really matter what the site publishes or doesn't publish.

So I heard that AMP is no longer going to be supporting NinjaTrader. Existing users are grandfathered in, but for how long?

You need a money management plan. For instance, if you lose on 2 days in a row go back to simulation until you get 3 days profit in a row before you go back to real money. Follow the plan, whatever it is, religiously. No exceptions.

You can probably do better. Talk to your introducing broker if you have one. Otherwise talk to AMP. Compare other brokers.

Love your crystal ball work, but I'm sceptical. Most important is to be ready to play whatever the market brings. Don't predict, prepare.

You need time.. don't trade real money for at least a year. I'm serious. I stopped simulating too soon and I lost money. You need a trading plan but that is very very hard to come by.. a mentor at a good site or chatroom can help. There are sites that can help you find a good one.

Hi AAA, OK, I got ya now. I'm assuming for sure that any broker (IB or other) would liquidate you long before you got to that point in a normal situation. Seems like the broker would try to liquidate you and the clearing firm would try as well. So we're only talking about a situation in which...

Well sure, since trading futures can involve either buying or selling the contracts. Either can get you in trouble if the trade goes in the wrong direction.

rmorse, thanks... I'm not very worried about my own decisions. I trade 1 or 2 equity contracts at a time (usually TF -- always risking less than 5% of my account) and never hold overnight. I've had futures accounts for years at many brokers and have never been told that I could be responsible...

OK, now it's interesting: AAA is (I think) implying I'm naive for even considering the possibility and rmorse is clearly saying I should be concerned (enough to form an LLC to protect against the possibility). I'm looking forward to hearing more responses... thanks everyone.

OK, but I guess I'm missing the practicality of it. Say I bought a couple of CL contracts and forgot I did it. Went on vacation. All moved it the wrong direction. I come home from vacation and I owe them my house? Is that even possible?
