How do State Captial Gains Tax affect Futures?

Are the state capital gains tax rates applied to returns made from futures trading?

    Does Size Matter?

How many contracts can you trade (as a scalper) before you start moving the price/disrupting order flow? Is 100 a realistic lot size to enter on market order and sell on market order for 10-20 tick scalps at a time? I've traded anywhere from 1 to 10 and was wondering what's the largest anybody...

    Why trading company hires people?

Most prop firms out there are for people to get higher leverage than any retail broker can give and make their money in commissions. Many prop firms that make you trade their "system" and/or pay for education are not very good. I've personally signed up for a few and I know people who's spend...

    over 90% win rate

You may be 80% and making profit, but this is horrible risk management, and you're going to crash and burn.

    Top 30 traders under 30

Trading for a prop shop vs trading for a bank or hedge fund is two entirely different animals. One focuses on intraday patterns, technical analysis trading, arbitrage, etc. They other is hedging options, buying dips in value companies, and playing the economics and Geo-politics.

What do you think about Shark Traders

I've never seen a firm that allows you to partner and open your own prop firm besides Nonko. Is this legitimate? They are registered in the BVI. Says nothing about any regulation however. I will only ever trade with a FDIC broker-dealer registered firm like Great Point Capital.

    Any Trading Opportunities in Arizona?

Nothing physically in Arizona, but there are tons of remote firms out there.

How does someone get the capital required to turn trading into a business?

There's tons of private trading firms out there that operate similar to prop firms but require a successful resume rather than a deposit. I know Great Point Capital has up to $10MM for traders to manage. I know 2 traders there. They make anywhere from $50-100K on a good day. It really depends...

To those of you who DAYTRADE WITHOUT CHARTS - what do you use?

I don't use the chart to trade, but I use it to find levels. Like I buy off new lows in stocks with +2.50 range and less than 10M volume with large (100+) bids that hold support. I have a stop placed under those bids. Then I just ride the rally to a level in the chart or the open, yesterday's...

Equity Day Traders please post your firm only.

Of course the actual stock or bond you are buying cannot be FDIC insured, nor any other investment. But the deposit and balance in your account can and should be FDIC insured. My TD Ameritrade cash and margin accounts are FDIC insured. Most legitimate brokerage accounts are FDIC insured. Any...

I can't find anything on these firm's websites saying my money is FDIC insured. I don't care what anybody on this forum thinks of them, no offense.

    Real Reasons Behind Market Patterns

Google supply and demand. You should already understand why the market moves. Supply side wants the price high as possible. The demand side wants it as cheap as possible. At some point on each side, the demand side is going to say it's to expensive. Demand slows down and prices drop. At some...

    over 90% win rate

I wouldn't even give 500 much credit. It's not the trade count that matters, more than th time period. A scalper could make 500 trades in a month, week, or possibly a day. That time period is not enough at all to evaluate a system. You want results from different economic time periods. If...

Are there free intraday data for the last three yrs?

The only free real time data you will get is BATs data, which isn't reliable for intraday traders. Go to tdameritrade.com and open an account. Go through the process and select the deposit at another time option. Then you can use your account to login to ThinkOrSwim with free real-time data...

Equity Day Traders please post your firm only.

Most prop firms that require a deposit are just shady firms in Belize or something. Have a successful track record and apply to legitimate prop firms. If you don't have a track record, you shouldn't be trading with 100x leverage anyways.
