When to Stop a Trading System

I guess you didn't notice the disparaging way he spoke to me.

Nope. I was polite. I'm used to being attacked.

When to Stop a Trading System

I read one of the Hedge Fund Market Wizards books. It's been a while but if I recall some of their swings could be wild. If I remember it was not uncommon to see a -50% drawdown on a system that averaged 20% a year. That's why there was a rule that only wealthy individuals with a certain net...

Nope. Not trolling. You taught me a few things (thank you) but you also learned something.

Expected inflation is 2.35%? Isn't that too low?

Low inflation is not good enough. They actually need to reverse the inflation damage that was done by wild money printing. All the things in that matter are still sky high; gas, food, housing. Look at the M1 money supply chart. It is nightmare fuel.

Why the market will go up

Real inflation has not fallen where I live. Gas is still absurd. Rents are still going up (my friend texted me two weeks ago that his rent increased 50%). Beef it still crazy expensive. And homes are still ridiculously and unafforably priced. This all needs to come down. IMO (which is worthless)...

Appreciate the tips. I will save and refer to them. My username was chosen before I learned the earth was a plane covered by an impenetrable dome and travel to outer space is a lie, but thanks. lol If it helps I'm just focused on a small number of equities. One in particular averages 100...

'member when the market turned the corner in 2009....

I remember the exact bottom in 2009. People at work were flooding the internal company blog begging that managers force our 401K administrator to allow choices like DOG so employees could bet against the market. IMO (which is worthless of course) the bottom may not happen for another year or so.

How many shares before slippage is noticed when scalping?

Hi. I am not a successful trader, but I am still trying. Once in a while I might have a good day paper trading, then sit in the bathroom with a calculator and imagine what the compounded % return would be if I could magically reproduce those results consistently in real trading. The thought...

Trading web sites and software with Russia exposure

I think OP has a valid question. The issue is not 'what people bad'. The issue is sudden termination of access due to geopolitical tensions. I've been playing with NinjaTrader and MultiCharts. Last night I put my PC to sleep but when I woke up it was still alive because MultiCharts was...

    Schadenfreude Warning: "Karen the Supertrader"

I was addressing people who attempt to trade options exclusively. Yes, if you limit options trading to a very small portion of your account you might survive... but very few traders actually do this. So few in fact that the practice has little basis in reality. And, there is no pressing need to...

    Access to unlimited historical data

A hedge fund manager who can earn a fat performance fee on billions of dollars will make more money faster than trading his own account. Even the best hedge funds rarely average more than 20% per year. Averaging 20% a year on your own money is a respectable feat, but it won't make you wealthy...
