Very Rare Occurrence on the $DJI

Just wanted to add a visual. This being said, the S&P did recapture it’s 40 Month MA and is now supported there. However, please extend a line at the 2018 S&P high, 2940, and see how it has affected the weekly and daily charts recently. A weekly close above that will be very bullish. Until then...

Very Rare Occurrence on the $DJI

    This is too true! Sadly.

Very Rare Occurrence on the $DJI

I specifically said “since August of 1982”. I also pointed out two occurrences during the depression but my post was specific to the 1982 until now range.

Very Rare Occurrence on the $DJI

It has been about a decade since I last posted here. I’m not making a prediction but I am sharing an observation. Since August of 1982 the Dow Jones industrial average has only closed below it’s 40 MONTH moving average TWO TIMES. Closing the month below its 40 month moving average once in 2001...

    QQQQ down Nasdaq up?

qqqq tracks the $ndx (nasdaq 100), not the nasdaq composite.

Gold not moving up on China move

I agree, Sunday night futures moves rarely mean much. I've even noticed that Comex Gold is even usually dull from the bell at 8:20 (NYC Time) until 9:30 when GLD starts trading. Then the meaningful action begins.

New Gold Breakout? Or Bull Trap?

I always have a 60 min, Daily, Weekly and Monthly chart open. Funny thing is, I have been trading gold on the short side for weeks and now that I surrender and go long it wouldn't surprise me to see it selloff. But I can't ignore this obvious technical breakout for now.

New Gold Breakout? Or Bull Trap?

Looks like a textbook start to a parabolic blowoff to me. Only needs volume.

SPY, @ES OR $INX, Which do you find S&R most reliable?

Using daily and weekly charts for swing trades and position trades these charts will sometimes contradict one another. SPY might close below support for example while $INX closes above it on the same day/week. SPY is heavily traded but $INX is the Big Momma that traders always refer to when they...

May Natty a buy here at $4.00-$4.05

The chart is like a gift right now. Range traders gotta love it. Breakout traders sitting patiently on their hands. Something for everyone! The question is, is it forming a base or just consolidating for the next down move? I'll wait for the range to break. :)

    Thursday May 6, 2010

Thursday's "fat finger" day reminds me more of February 27, 2007. I was watching that day also when the Dow dropped 500 points in the blink of an eye.

You only see the bottoms in the consolidation pattern you posted? One might say your chart also shows four tops.

    Tradestation Charts, Conflicting Data

I run the Tradestation charting platform on more than one computer in my home. I noticed that there are times when there are differences of historic prices of continuous futures charts ( ex; @es) from one computer to the next. For example, on the @es weekly chart there is a weekly low price of...

Gold Breakout Today (4/1/10) - Long Term

You're a bit early. Yes, there is a clear breakout of the down trendline. However, the short term chart (daily since Mar 3) and the weekly chart since December is still making lower highs and lower lows. I'd be bullish short term if it closes above 1135 and very bullish with a close above...
