Ultimate Trading Contest: Mark Brown vs Jack Hershey/spydertrader

yes, we all lose money, we are all in llama-worshipping cult, and we all need to be rescued by YOU (and your 100 other handles)! :D and rest assured, if any of us were making $, we would definitely post in the P&L thread.

I haven't read about the tampa tape except for other people's mentions of it, but it seems to make sense. We look at the 5 minute chart, in general, because that provides the best window for our trading fractal given an average level of volatility. It seems to make sense that if volatility is...

    Iterative Refinement

I mainly look to do it when the price action and the gaussians are poorly expressed in 5 minute bars (lots of intrabar change). Sure, I could just look at the YM for that faster-fractal clarity, but sometimes I feel like that would be a misuse of the YM, which I am supposed to be using only at...

I misread... I actually use a faster fractal when volatility is super high, and sometimes (but not anytime lately) a slower fractal when volatility is low.

You're missing a channel near your 2nd blue box (see the B2B). I viewed that 2nd blue area as an HVS (note the decr alternating volume).

I get backfill of about 15 days it seems. I don't see the point of having a backup feed (QT+IQ) since if Zen goes down, you can't place an order anyway.

I highly recommend Mirus Futures. Commissions are similar to IB at first, but you can negotiate it down as you start doing more trades. Data feed is great. You get the Zenfire feed for free, which, IMO seems more responsive and faster than IB or IQ were. I've never not been filled...

Thought I'd chime in with my Ninja experiences. If you need to extend an LTL line, a quick trick to do it is to click the line you want to extend, CTRL+C,CTRL+V, then use the line you just pasted as a guide for your original line as you extend it to keep the slope consistent. As far as...

    Hyudra's 2008 Journal

Good luck. My honest advice would be to forgo this "game" and sim trade while making money at a real job. When you have more, say four figures worth, and you have proven yourself on the sim, have a go at it for real. Your hourly rate starting with a $200 account is not going to be...

I agree with you, it is a pretty sweet offer. If I were them and the offer was legit, I'd take them up on it too. But who is this Mark Brown fellow? You sure he's not another one of steve's aliases and he's just trying to stir up a ruckus? Anyway, my point is that quantsteve's reasons for...

Ultimate Trading Contest: Mark Brown vs Jack Hershey/spydertrader

steve, who is losing money? all of the hershey folks stick to fake money until they are consistently profitable. nobody loses real money, at least not that i've heard of. You're better off arguing about people losing their time. Empirical support is there, but on a personal basis. If you...

Absolutely agree with you, T28, if we are talking about folks like Don Bright who charge thousands of dollars for lessons. These folks need to be held accountable so they don't fleece newbies. But honestly, what do you care of some super old man and his redneck friend want to teach people for...

I didn't even realize how violent the crash was today... I was just trading in my spare moments between classes (first day of semester) and eked out 12 or so points. Then I read that the market dropped 60 (!) and wished I had had today off!

My .02... The PT2-->3 volume decrease gives you an eternity to prepare yourself to press the button... You know exactly what's coming next and you just have to sit on your hands until tape BO and/or incr prv. PT3s aren't always this clear though, especially if pace is really moving quickly...
