Reversion to the mean only trading...

You mention that you have about 3 possible exit strategies. One of the 3 is the hard stop and that is the least favorable. Can you talk about the other 2 possible (more favorable) stops or exit strategies and how you determine them? Hopefully I didn't overlook any comments you already made...

How did you feel with your first +$1000 day in trading profits?

Xela, I always find your posts to be thoughtful and instructive. You've covered some important points that need to be considered. I'm just curious, were these "300 consecutive trades" actual live trades? Or, were they paper trades you recorded when developing your method? -Al

    Trading breakout, pullback question

The "breakout pullback" pattern can be an outstanding trading pattern. Notice that I said it "can be"... given the right context. But you must have the discipline to really understand and apply the pattern. The context leading up to the pattern is all important. Research "Trader Vic's...

I'm losing money and can't stop. How do you be patient?

One of the best books available is Trading in the Zone. "Master the market with confidence, discipline and a winning attitude." - Mark Douglas Also, the following quote has been posted before, but it is worth reading again... “Being disciplined in the past isn’t good enough: on each and...

The TREND is your friend.. The biggest lie ever!

I also miss her valuable insights. But, last November she said she no longer trades full time. She said she had "too many irons in the fire", which might explain why she has not been around recently. -Al

Where can I learn how to build a profitable trading system

Dr. Howard Bandy has written several books on trading systems. He seems to have the background to do this. He was a university dean who also taught applied mathematics. Having said that, just consider the approach taken by nodoji. As I recall, she performed ALL of her backtesting by hand. No...

jasinhbca's quest for discipline, knowledge & profits

This reminds me of my younger days (much younger) when I used to get the crap beat out of me when trying to learn Japanese style karate. You'll see the connection in just a moment. Our instructor was the "real deal" because he made us wear boxing gloves and go full contact. This was long...
