Money From MF Global Feared Gone

Corzine was able to retrieve at least $500K of it. Don't worry, it will be put to good use. http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/jon-corzine-raised-500000-obama_620781.html

Flash Crash vs day-trader reaction time

Keep an eye on the economic calendar and be flat when a major report is coming out . . . or if Ben is scheduled to speak. Stops won't help you in flash situation. You'll get the worst possible fill, it goes with the territory.

    Looking for career advice

Like so many: "I didn't go to college for nothing . . . . I paid for it." As another saying goes: "If you can't trade . . . . trade corn." (great place for a trader to start BTW).

    How to use DOM primer?

On IB's website there still may be some archived webinars on "Reading Order Flow". I think Dan Gramza was one of the instructors. The DOM tells a lot. Pretty much for short term, in-and-out stuff. Once in a while you get a good position. Reading the DOM perhaps is similar to "tape reading."...

Think or Swim vs Lightspeed vs Interactive Brokers

Open E Cry is worth a look. Been using them and have no complaints. I just use their charts and DOM. Always get good fills.

Are stops a complete joke ?

There is a no-stop, always-in system using 2 MA crossover. Curtis Faith talks about it in his book "Way of the Turtle."

    Market is broken

Stok is correct. Moves like yesterday go with the territory. When one signs up with a broker you may read something like "risk of substantial loss . . ." Days like yesterday is what they are talking about. Which is why one should use money they can afford to lose. Because you probably will...

    High frequency trading strategies

True. I have heard Linda Raschke say 40% of ES trades are black box.

    Tape Reading Book?

Google "Day Trader's Bible" and you should be able to download a free PDF of Wycoff's book for some more weekend reading. It was written in early 1900's but the principles still apply. Amazing how that works.

Here is the link to a Jack Broz webinar. http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/general/education/priorWebinars.php?ib_entity=llc This should get you to IB's Previously Recorded page and the "Industry Sponsored" tab then scroll down to Feb. 14, 2008 date. I have not seen this particular one...

DOM ACV and bid/ask WALL used tgether

Interesting topic. There are some archived webinars on IB's website done by Jack Broz on reading order flow that might be helpful to some starting out. On another note Linda Raschke says about 40% of the activitiy you see on the ES DOM is black box generated.

can you open an account with 2000 $?

$2K to open IB account for futures. With that you get a papertrader acct. Not much you can trade with $2K. ZC, ZF, NQ to name a few. Best to start with at least $10K min. $50K is more realistic but not without a system that works for you.

Greenspan on the 90-91 recession. US Is Still in a Severe Credit Crunch

And the proposed cap & trade legislation will only exacerbate the situation. Much less money available for consumers. Ripple effect to China and India as they need a consuming country such as us to export to. And if you are an entrepreneur why would you ever expand operations in this country...

Why traders keep trading after blowing-up 50%+ of their account?

And if that's not enough: "It is a fact that our brain tends to go for the superficial clues when it comes to risk and probability, these clues being largely determined by what emotions they elicit or the ease with which they come to mind. In addition to such problems with the perception of...
