Nailing the Open (ES, YM) in the U.S

Two direct quotes from two well respected authorities on the S&P contract. 1. The Compleat Day Trader (Jake Bernstein) page 53 " As soon as the market has moved in your favor by a predetermined amount (100 points in S&P futures for example), you exit one unit." 2. The Secrets To...

Nailing the Open (ES, YM) in the U.S

I'm pretty sure I'm right about the 100 pts in the SP future. On the weekend I will post this concept in more than one well documented source. Or if someone that trades on the CME can beat me to it it would be great. But I'm pretty sure the SP future moves 100pt to 1pt

Nailing the Open (ES, YM) in the U.S

I would not rule out any day just because of a key event. However, I would definetly let the event pass and let the dust settle. I think on certain days the edge can be better than 50%. If you know what to look for in Europe indexes, treasury markets, and the globex session. Thats really why I...

Nailing the Open (ES, YM) in the U.S

I have never traded on the floor. It is my understanding that the SP futures moves 100 pts per 1 point in the SP cash. This is give or take not accounting for fair value. For example 1449 to 1450 in the cash is a 100 pt move in the future.

Nailing the Open (ES, YM) in the U.S

You get the 60- 80 pts, or more from a very fast move in one direction. This tends to happen often enough right near the open.

Nailing the Open (ES, YM) in the U.S

I think I should make one thing clear. I'm talking about entering to anticipate the open in the U.S. from the time of 8:20 a.m. (et) to 9:25 a.m.

Nailing the Open (ES, YM) in the U.S

I have tried to anticipate the open for a long time in the U.S. equity index markets. Many times if you get this trade right you get 60 or 80 ym points(600-800 es points) in a matter of minutes. That leaves your day open to pursue other interests. I would really like this thread to become a...

    Unconventional and Unique Strategies

I agree classical TA is the norm so in the big picture you can't get to far ahead if you use it just like everyone else. You must use it differently. I believe the purpose of the market is to generate as much transactions as possible and then run the stops on those transactions. Hence, so many...

    Unconventional and Unique Strategies

Its not exactly contrarian thinking. Sometimes yes and sometimes no. A better description is that I'm fully versed in the principles of conventional technical analysis. (Edwards and Maggee) I know what should happen at key points on the chart. When the bear side should be strongly bearish and he...

    Unconventional and Unique Strategies

I think the creator of this thread had an excellent idea with this concept. In my opinion this is the correct path to follow if you ever want to acheive greatness in this business of trading. I have long used a reverse logic approach to the markets. When I started using this approach my...

There is much to learn from todays action for students of the markets. Todays long entry off the bottom was the perfect example of quality market analysis. It clearly portrays the principle of one of the most important aspects of successful trading. The principle of confluence. Not fibonacci...

The FESX and DAX is most likely more reactive to downticks because its playing catch up. It was open yesterday and up on the day. to get in line it has to come down harder. I think this is going to be a nice day to go long to fill the gap on the spy.. If I can get a set up. I kind of like the...

Thanks for the interest in my journal. The worst drawdown scenario I had given earlier. Is truly the worse case scenario. Its nearly double the actual drawdown I experienced. It accounts for errors of all types. For example, the possibility I miss entered the stop. I have done this more than...

I'm also living in the Czech Rep. Thats the only reason why I took on a position in the CZK. There are probably a lot of better bets out there. This was the most simple choice for me out of conveince. I don't speculate in forex this was a long term investment. I'm physically holding the CZK...
