    Switching from ES to Bonds

I'm in the same boat, primarily traded notes since 2004, but made the switch to primarily trading ES in late September last year. The volatility in the notes just became too wild and random compared to what I was used to, I had too much baggage to adjust that much that quickly so decided to...

    Fed is buying treasuries

Perhaps, but did you see the 30-year re-opening last week? Bid really strong with one of the highest indirects I can recall for a re-opening. There were definitely buyers there.

Anybody else short US 30 Bond

Actually the NY fed said "...will concentrate purchases in the 2- to 10-year sector of the nominal Treasury curve, although purchases will occur across the nominal Treasury and TIPS yield curves". So they aren't NOT buying 30 years like some people were saying, they're buying everything, just...

    LIFFE Gilt 32nds

How would that work? Instead of 100 ticks per handle there'd be 32? So the value per tick would roughly triple?

    Goldmam MISSES estimates by $1.24

Not only that, but they have one of their own handing out the TARP money. Remember the day Paulson leaked news about a RTC like facility in the late afternoon was the same day Goldman finally started getting hit hard by the shorts in the morning.

    The economy is booming

After RiceRocket's T-bond call it's dumbfounding that anyone would question his identity. The guy made the best call I've ever seen on this site just a couple weeks ago. Not only was it a massive winner, but the logic behind it was easy to research and confirm yourself before the move...

Fed increases TAF auction to $900 billion... WTF?

Well that boosted the market for what, 5 seconds? That's some good bang for your (our) buck PPT.

Non Farm Payroll Futures Contract Coming

Exactly. There used to be a non-farm derivative contract, I remember it could be as much as 30-40k off of what the median economist expectation was. Good to know when the market is leaning one way. Hopefully this CME version lasts longer than the last one.

    Bund Future 03/28/2008

Cheers man. Bigger than some of those dax stops? How far down were you bidding? Did you hold it the whole time or get out and pray they don't break the original fills?

Anybody else short US 30 Bond

Interesting move before and after a basically inline Philly Fed number. Obviously they were punting something much worse. Anyone hear any rumors ahead of time? I was told there was one floating around that was lower but I didn't hear what the number was.

Anybody else short US 30 Bond

Wow, just saw the charts now, what a Sunday night! Wish I was in the office but I didn't realize I had a 6-day per week job, thanks Ben! Just wondering what times (exact if possible) the fed discount cut and the BSC $2 per share headlines first hit the wires? Thanks in advance.

Wheat just went up $2 in 2 minutes!

Bernanke who? Wow, this is crazy. Is this a haywire algo throwing around those 250 - 300 lots in July?

When did you receive Bernanke's news?

Ya, all the major wires I know of had it at 12:16. Don't think there were any I saw with 12:15. May I add, what a complete load of BS this is. The fed has been under quite a bit of scrutiny for their communications. First of course the infamous Maria-gate. Then just last month with the...

How much did you lose this week?

It was my second worst week of the year. The money lost wasn't what bothered me, it was more the frusturation at not being able to capitalize on the extreme volatility. In fact I got nailed by it a couple times. I made some much needed adjustments and had a decent day Friday so am looking...

    Attn US Bond Futures Traders

Thanks for letting us know. On non-farm or other significant events it can be helpful to see as much of the market as possible. While those situations are rare, I think anyone who trades outrights during those times would agree. Is there an e-mail address for globex we can send our concerns...

Actually, I just came across this post through google while searching for the exact same thing (search term was "nasdaq 100 weighting"). So to the OP thanks for asking and to you thanks for answering him.

Here is What The Federal Reserve Wanted To Say...

While they're referring to a few things there (energy, commodities) the main resource they're talking about is likely labor. Unemployment at 4.5% is tight. Tight labor markets are inflationary since wages go up, especially with productivity possibly slipping (which would cause unit labor costs...
