Arbitrary daily loss limit at prop shops - why?

These firms can have 100's of traders. They don't have the time, resources or inclination to oversee individual stop order strategies.

Why is hard to make money? Find trend, stops above previous/high low, TP @ next highs/lows

If you're not robotic about that approach, you'll quickly get tired of being stopped out all the time to watch in horror as it closes that day in what would of been your target zone. Unless you're well funded and have your living expenses and tax obligations accounted for, you're forced to day...

Is Daytrading difficult or impossible ?

It was a dream job...unfortunately the open outcry system lost out to electronic trading. I'm not sure if open outcry even exists anymore but the advantage one had trading options standing 10' from the futures ring which the options were based off of was considerable. So, if all of a sudden a...

Is Daytrading difficult or impossible ?

Been there done that..from a market maker in the Coffee, Sugar Cocoa options ring for +10 years to day trading off the floor. It got progressively worse until loved ones and my accountant sat me down..lol Yeah, I was an expert chartist but that mattered less an less over time..less people...

500%+ in one year on autopilot - call for beta testers!

Interesting..it never even entered my mind to inquire about that when I was actively discussing involvement with "shops" around 6 months ago. Appreciate the information...

500%+ in one year on autopilot - call for beta testers!

As a former commodity options trader I don't need to tell you that ATM volatility and thus straddle prices already have risen in anticipation of such news releases. So, basically you're already paying a premium price for this strategy..and if you're doing it in a back month, you're really...

How much did you save up before you decided to trade full time?

"..Think about it this way. With marketable skills, finding a job that pays $150k is not that hard. to do it with less, working a job would almost certainly be a better bet." You said it! I just can't keep up with the 150k offers I'm getting for my marketable skills :sneaky: This is why I'm...

    jctrading or cy group or?

Thanks for the reply as I had the same impression from my discussions with Cygroup. Haven't pulled the trigger yet. Perhaps I should of as one thing that changed is apparently they make you keep your initial deposit in there for a year..told me it's now required. Anyway, thanks for...

    jctrading or cy group or?

Not sure what you mean by "Gotten 100's of thousand back in profits with zero drama" With which firm? & perhaps expand on how the decision of which firm to work with had anything to do with that..if this indeed did happen. Just curious....

    Can't win in futures trading

Appreciate your providing this video..That being said, I've watched and closely followed half of it and as an experienced trader all I can say is that this must be a demo or paper trading account as this dude is reckless. For one, he doesn't seem concerned with placing stops..Secondly, he did...

    Futures Prop Firms...

I am day trading..Ameritrade said 15K minimum deposit to trade ES. indeed it's around 5k margin/contract. Nothing is easy... The goal is to use sound risk/reward principles in conjunction with a long history of pattern recognition & volume profile analysis. +15 year trading history..although...

    Futures Prop Firms...

I think most firms require a 15k account to even start..at least TD Ameritrade does. Doesn't matter that the margins are $500/contract. They want 15k in the account.

    Futures Prop Firms...

Was hoping to compile a list of Futures Prop Firms..2 lists actually..the ones that seem to be popping up these days that don't require capital contribution but usually have a demo stage hurdle structure(Top Step, MES, Savius..etc) and perhaps the more established(traditional) ones that might be...

Looking for data on Volume Traded at Bid/Offer!

Thanks oft as indeed I came across Investor RT just a few days ago. It seems that they're Volume Breakdown offering is very robust..would welcome hearing from those familiar with this particular product. That being said, it's $80/month to gain access to their VB feature and at this point...

Looking for data on Volume Traded at Bid/Offer!

Thanks for the quick replies! I checked into the suggested vendors and apparently they don't break down their data..it's mainly just raw data.. I'm not a programmer so I'm not sure if I'd know how to take raw data and manipulate it in Excel to eventually resemble the example right below...
