Why most of the system metrics are useless numbers

I agree 100% with you; but there must be a way to measure how good a trader is - and it is defintely not by who has the largest P&L. You also have to take into consideration the length of time a trader has been going at it and, most importantly, how much RISK a trader took to generate his P&L...

Why most of the system metrics are useless numbers

This is not a fact because it ignores the "risk" that was taken to get from point A to point B and the probability of a "high-risk" trader of blowing up in the future. If you turn $10,000 into $1,000,000 trading in one year and someone else does the same by purchasing 10,000 lottery ticks, it...

Why most of the system metrics are useless numbers

Hey, shouldn't you be trading while the market is closed? Didn't you have a special frequent flyer pass to trade on the weekend?

Why most of the system metrics are useless numbers

A manager can actually make a lot more money than a trader because he works with many traders. Please gain more experience before you embarrass yourself with your remarks again. A beginner should be humble and trying to learn from others; instead of telling everyone else that they're wrong and...

Why most of the system metrics are useless numbers

And you do? Real trading means trading with real funds. In all my years in this business, I haven't seen one trader with a similar style as yours, as far as risk management is concerned, survive. If I didn't know about trading, my institutional clients wouldn't pay me for what I do. Oh...could...

Why most of the system metrics are useless numbers

Yes; still are. Brokerage firms, hedge funds, etc. and also retail managed account programs for traders that aren't quite ready to get accepted at the institutional level.

Why most of the system metrics are useless numbers

I agree with you. Focusing on stats before you trade is like focusing on the chicken before the egg. That won't work. Nevertheless, some stats must be used to "measure" a trader. Furthermore, a trader who tries to fudge or rig the stats by doubling up, etc. won't last for long. It's impossible...

Why most of the system metrics are useless numbers

What you're saying is mathematically true. It is called martingaling. It is a method that is used by some in gambling as well - "Just keep doubling up as you win." The problem with that method is that you need an extremely large bank roll or the probability of blowing up when the market throws a...

Currenex Charting Options - What do you use?

I think it sucks to scalp on currenex and an aggregated feed is much better. The spreads and liquidity are much better as a result.

Best way to set up partnership with a backer

Usually firms limit the DD for intro traders; at least we do. If they would allow large DD's for intro traders, they might go out of business. :)

Best way to set up partnership with a backer

I would agree when it comes to traders that don't have experience trading much capital. We've had horrible experiences backing those. Traders that have substantial experience have turned out pretty good for us IF the due diligence on them is properly done.

    cax

Definitely worth the hassle. Much better then any other place we have traded at. We should be close to 1000 trades there already in around two weeks of test trading and we'll be running stats all throughout the next few months.
