MetaStock comes with a tool called The DownLoader that can convert data from formats such as Excel and ASCII then you can merge these converted files into a single file. MetaStock's file format is limited to 65500 records though, so I am not sure this would be too effective for you, with tick data.

I would think that technical indicators would be more accurate with a broader picture of data. So while it may not directly impact the exact price you get in at, I would personally trust signals more from a wider range of data. QuoteCenter pulls data from over 800 banks.

John Murphy's Chart Pattern Recognition (Plug-in for MetaStock) has "Unconfirmed" Pattern explorations that you can run. Not sure on all the specifics but basically the explorations look for 3 out of 4 conditions to be true (Or something along those lines).

Don't really need to, but their Expert Advisor works on a chart-to-chart basis. Attaching an Expert advisor to generate buy/sell/highlights and alerts when conditions occur is a handy benefit of having several charts open at once.

Pretty sure Reuters has this data, but you will want to check to make sure. I think you just have to add an exchange suffix i.e. IBM.N to receive NYSE data only. I suppose it also depends on if you are looking for real-time or end of day data.

Just an aside, but from my experience there is typically no admin password set on that recovery process and you just press Enter without any password set to proceed. Typically this recovery console process is a last ditch effort to repair odd system files and doesn't always work that well...
