October. This is one of the peculiarly dangerous months to speculate in stocks. The others are July, January, September, April, November, May, March, June, December, August, and February."

I have downloaded the MarketDelta programme for IB, but it cannot be installed. The .msi file is not recognised. Does anyone know what the problem is? Cheers.
I wonder whether it is necessary to hedge overnight positions with options. If I have a long position at ES with a 5 pt stop for overnight holding, will it be a good idea to buy puts for hedging? Should I opt for puts with a strike price somewhat below the stop, or those far out of money?
I wonder whether limit and stop orders at IB are local or native? If I send a limit or stop order to IB before going off for the night, will the order be kept at IB's server, or in the exchange?
If, in a black swan situation, IB went down, would my order still be executed when the price...
I day trade the minis; my setups provide 3 to 4 trades per day on average. Scalping is not for me, but I have found it hard to wait patiently and yet vigilantly for the right signal.
When a signal does not come soon after the open, I either lose my patience and take trades in violation of my...
Thank you all.
I would like to ask one more thing. Some eco. news seems to have little impact in the market, while others may change the market direction instantly. Is there a method of knowing beforehand what news is crucial and what is less so? Thanks so much.
Is there a calendar / schedule for oil-related news such as inventory? Having been caught by the spike this morning:mad: , I would like to prevent this from happening again by knowing about the schedule beforehand. Thank you.
I am looking for ways to estimate volatility. Can anyone please tell me how to estimate the volatility of an instrument at any point of time? Thanks in advance.
This has probably appeared here a thousand and one times, but I am feeling so upset and frustrated at the moment, I wish to talk about it.
I started trading 3 weeks ago; now my account is down 19%. It is not the losing that bothers me as much, since I perceive it as a necessary tuition fee...
Can anyone please recommend a simulator for swing trading the mini equity-index futures? The simulator should enable one to hold positions for days. Apparently there is one by Velocity Futures, but it only allows for intraday trading. Many thanks.
Can anyone please tell me the symbols for the index-tracking stocks? Apparently QQQQ is the one for NASDAQ, but what are those for S&P and Russell 2000?
Moreover, if I trade such stocks with IB, what kind of commissions are they going to charge? Is it same as the ones for normal stocks...
As the summer draws in, the market is getting less active with more quiet time. I wonder if it is possible to have a 2nd job. Ideally it will be a job wherein I can also work from home while watching the computer at the same time.
Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.
