    Goog and Java

You might want to drill into the balance sheet and look at those numbers more closely. Both Cash and Equivalents (8+ billion) and short term investments (6+ billion) grew last quarter. And those liabilities are just costs of doing business, not long term debt.

    AAPL earnings after the close

As Mr. Doji states, you are about to get a lesson in IV and a phenomenon called "volatility implosion". I hope you don't have much invested in this position.

    Goog and Java

Uhh, not sure what you are smoking, but I show GOOG has 14 billion in cash and zero debt. http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ks?s=GOOG And there is no reason for them to buy Java. Why in the world would they want to do that? (P.S. - Java is crap)

How can there be a crisis when so many

It is, in fact, a very interesting time. I have a full time contract I am working during the day, plus 2 after hours contracts I am working for 10-ish extra hours per week each. I didn't want to take the second after hours gig, so when they asked for a quote I jacked my rate up even more...

if we do have a bounce which sectors will lead?

Another vote here for commodities (and related) and tech. A lot of the tech stocks that got hit hard recently still have great earnings. I think when GOOG and AAPL earning come out in the next few weeks, on top of the world governments jumping through every hoop they can find to stabilize...

    Crisis Over?

I agree in general that this will happen, but we may not be there yet. I just went from 90% cash to 20% cash after being mostly cash for months. I may be too early, but I do think last week was the peak of the fear. There may still be a lot of unwinding that needs to happen. Really good...

Too late to short tech (AAPL), commodities (MON, FCX), rails (CSX)?

That is some piss-poor analysis. AAPL is nothing like RIMM, and it is nothing like the AAPL of the 90s. It is currently gaining market share in the computer space and iPhones are still kicking butt. There is no fundamental reason in the stock itself that has caused it to get cut in half. The...

    Google stock a huge buy

So you are of the opinion that Google will continue going down from here? They are still earning money. Buffett says to buy good companies when there is blood in the streets. Looks like blood to me. And Google is one of the best tech companies out there. Oh and I'm not here for my 1%...

    Your Top 3 Cheapest Equities

TGA price = $2/share book value = $2/share This is an oil company that got clobbered recently because they had most of their oil hedged for the next 6 months at "only" 80 dollars a share. Forward P/E is stupidly low. They also have multiple exploration sites, and if one of them turns up...

    Google stock a huge buy

Some of you guys are letting your emotions override your logic here. Just because this guy has gotten clobbered on some previous trades doesn't mean Google is going to go to 0. You guys want this guy to fail so badly that it is blinding you to what is going on. If you can't be objective while...

    Stock Trad3r INDEX

You are the poster boy for irrational exuberance. I probably trade closer to your style than anyone else that has posted in this thread, but I still think you are headed for trouble. I'm not saying you should change your style, but you must always be aware that there is risk in what you are...

    Detroit caught sucking its thumb...

I'm personally down to trying to buy everything Japanese. Germany has gone seriously downhill in the last few years. BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagon, and Audi all get pretty terrible reviews these days for longterm quality, plus they cost an arm and a leg when things break on them. Which is a...

    What`s your biggest tradeing blunder?

Ignoring my profitable but boring stock method to continue losing my money on my futures method. Think I've finally kicked that habit. Especially after the great money I've made in the last few months. Money is a good reinforcer. Now I seek excitement outside the market and keep the trading...

How logical is it to buy a very cheap home?

If you just need a bed, why not go in with a bunch of other students and get a 3 bedroom place and cram 3 bunk beds in there? Rent split 6 ways, and you can get something closer to where you work and go to school. (I don't know NYC well, so maybe this is a stupid idea.)

How much time do you spend trading ?

Gotta love the "pros" telling everyone else that the way they do things is wrong. You and Mr. Hershey are like two peas in a pod. As I get older, I spend less and less time staring at the computer working on trades, and the growth of my accounts continues to accelerate. I am down to 1-5...

    I need encrypted Internet access

I don't get this. What exactly do you think your ISP is going to do? Blackmail you about what porn sites you visit? If you aren't doing anything illegal that you want to hide, the most basic of protections will keep your trading accounts safe, as long as you use some common sense and use a...
