IB Cancel Fee on Single Option

Ah.. I see. Thx IB. What do u mean by native order? Would u consider married put a native spread? How about a custom 3x2 ratio spread? Also my understanding is that IB's SMART routing is capable of filling multi leg spreads across multiple exchanges. Does that mean when I route an iron...

Noregrets' "Double or Nothing" Volatility Trading Journal

Oh ya... I can relate to that. Those fearless beginners luck/curse that every trader experiences and keeps them coming back for more. Little did I know that trading is 10% strategy 90% self discovery. I only know its the right fit when i will place the same trade all over again with no regrets ;)

IB Cancel Fee on Single Option

$0.01/contract? or $0.01/leg? I just want to confirm that when you say combinations, you mean any order with more than one leg? And what's so special about that that the exchange is willing to waive the cancel fee?

IB Cancel Fee on Single Option

Ah.. I see. Thank you. Why can't IB do the same thing with single option - don't route until marketable?

Noregrets' "Double or Nothing" Volatility Trading Journal

Being slightly short delta will compensate for the increased in IV when the market goes down against my long positions. Conversely when the market goes up iv usually contracts so its a lot easier to manage the short delta positions.

IB Cancel Fee on Single Option

Why does IB charge cancel fee on single option but not on spreads? What's so special about a spread (as opposed to a single option) that IB (or the underlying exchange) is willing to waive the cancellation fee? Someone please shed some light on me!

Noregrets' "Double or Nothing" Volatility Trading Journal

Nice Journal NR! I bot a SPY Oct 165/168put 1.43 debit. Short delta with +ve theta. It fits my portfolio (I like to be slightly short all the time as a premium seller).

    Myth: TOS Commision Negotiatable?

I asked nicely. They just won't bulge from the $1.5 which is an rate increase from my current $7+.75/contract. Like I mentioned on the initial post - my volume has been down from 300 to 50/mon recently - not the best time to negotiate. I just hate that $7 ticket fee, it's a killer to scale...

    Myth: TOS Commision Negotiatable?

The .05 is a double edge sword! There were times that when the option is .06, .07 or even .08, I waited one more day only to have it run away from me. :(

IB Forced Liquidation on Defined Risk Options

Thx Matt. Very interesting! You think someone fabricated those stories? It seems like it's only on IB though. I wonder if it has something to do with the duration of the options. For e.g., you hold longer dated options (less gamma risk) even if you rarely hold a position for more than a...

IB Forced Liquidation on Defined Risk Options

It's been a while since I last saw a post regarding IB"s Forced Liquidation. I thought perhaps they have finally put their act together. I was tempted to open an account with them until I came across these recent posts on yelp about IB...

    Myth: TOS Commision Negotiatable?

I think it's more like DirectTV. You have to actually quit and restart as a new client to get the good rates. What would TDA gain by reducing your commission on a low volume account!? You got no bargaining power, esp if you've been with them for a while. They figure you're just not going to...

Ah... Thank you NoRegrets! That's very helpful. I was about to give-up! Is there a specific rep you talk to?

    Myth: TOS Commision Negotiatable?

I hear you Steve. I was offered $1/contract or $7+.75/contract. I took the later offer because I was trading a lot of 4-legged spread at the time. That would be a dream rate now. Unlike TOS, I suppose TDA wouldn't give a crap about my account. I might as well forget about the negotiation...

    Myth: TOS Commision Negotiatable?

My current rate is $7+.75/contract. I read that many people had their ticket fee dropped. So, I emailed client service and they offered me $1.5/contract. They told me that I need to trade 5000 contracts/month to get the .75/contract rate. Is that a TDA policy? This is really a...

    Straddle Expires ATM?

LOL! Agree Naz! Fortunately, there's no (e) for the quiz. That's what I would have picked and failed the quiz. ;) I would never open a long straddle to begin with. And, I would never let it expired long or short. -pm

    Straddle Expires ATM?

Yeah. It's just the way they word it, "primary" component? What is primary? What is secondary? They're all inputs to the Black Scholes model. Maybe I'm just thinking too hard.

    Straddle Expires ATM?

Yepp... That is the PM quiz. Thank you for your response and for the warning. I understand the risk and how tempted that could be when you see your BP blew up overnight! Couple of other questions that I'm also not sure about... 1. If you write a call, hoping to benefit from the time...

    Straddle Expires ATM?

What happens to your account when a long straddle expires ATM? Say stock is $50 at expiration and you're: Long 1 ABC 50 Call Long 1 ABC 50 Put a. Flat or no posittion b. Long 100 shares of ABC c. Short 100 shares of ABC d. Both B and C I thought it would be undetermined. But...
