Visting NY - Viewing the NYSE or NYMEX?

Hi, I'll be visting New York in early September. I've read that they no longer do tours of the NYSE (due to security reasons) - does anyone know of any other way to get in there and check it out? What about checking out NYMEX? Thanks, GM

Any word from Refco Trading Services?

The flipper is a controversial trader who made around $60 million USD (on his own money) agressively scalping the Eurex FI markets. He "flips" in and out of the market which pisses alot of Eurex traders off.

    Hedge Funds

Hey skalp - You seem like a genius man. I'd be honoured if you came and played some no limit poker (online) with me. Just don't use your huge intellect to take ALL of my money - make sure you bring alot to the table though. What do you say?

Any word from Refco Trading Services?

It's Refco - You're easily able to get your payouts. The problem with Refco is that they stopped using TT - which is a big deal for some, small deal for others. Refco are still a good prop firm and have nothing to do with a BS "trading arcade".

    DAX vs ?

We're talking about Eurex here. Eurex is in ways better than CME, CBOE etc.

Do I have Illusions of Grandeur ?

In market wizards most 90+% of traders didn't come from IBs. I think there was a currency guy from Bear Stearns? I think that we'll see plenty of BSDs come out of prop firms - but they'll most likely be reputable prop firms - not bullshit trading arcade bucket shops. I see reputable...

    Traders in Australia/NZ

ASX stocks are difficult to short sell (due to regulations or whatever). CFDs make this easy. Right now the commissions are definantly reasonable but still not as good as US stocks - this is an area bound to benefit from the increased competition coming on to the scene. For position...

    Traders in Australia/NZ

As an Aussie, I see no point at all in trading the US markets due to the time frame. As I see it: Access to futures in our day time: Nikkei, SPI, Hang Seng along with all the other asian futures contracts. Access to stocks in Sydney, HK and Japan. Evening access to the European...

The importance of 'ping' - latency/connection speed in trading.

Hmm I'll do some research on that. That sounds great if thats how it's done. Thanks!

The importance of 'ping' - latency/connection speed in trading.

Hmm - so it looks like for the Australian scalper: He should mainly be looking at the SFE contracts, perhaps those from Singapore/HK/Japan.

The importance of 'ping' - latency/connection speed in trading.

Hey, I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the speed which you are connected to the exchange. Say for example you are in Australia and you connect to Eurex to trade the DAX - Your 'ping' is around 250-350 - while not slow - the traders in Europe have a slight edge in data-speed...

    Blackjack - I'm hooked!

Skalpz, You've had 2-3 counters tell you that your system won't work. One dealer has told you the same. A bunch of people who know a bit about blackjack have told you you're wasting your time. And you think "hey i'm a trader, so it doesn't matter what they say". Weren't you the guy who...

    Blackjack - I'm hooked!

Try starting a new account each day. You could even do each account with $100 (and try and turn it into $1000) if the initial capital is too much.

    Blackjack - I'm hooked!

Okay I'll give you a mission. For the next ten days. Start an online casino account with $1000, and attempt to turn it into $10,000 each day. You'll understand how blackjack works at the end.
