Between noise, volatility, and randomness, small stops will eat your account faster than a million termites on dry balsa wood. Thinking about stops first is putting the cart before the horse, the horse being your edge. If you don't know your edge, then don't trade.

Ask Pat Ditmar about this. I understand he recruited poker players to trade futures and gave them the training and technology. The tools he provided were proprietary, but I have no idea if these traders were ever profitable. That business is, I think, defunct, and Pat now is a vendor selling...
