Anyone traded the Mini-Nikkei 225 MJNK Osaka - Japan (JPX)

One more observation on this market is that ahead of major US news, NFP, fed decision etc the Nikkei tends to also be in waiting mode with subdued volatility. Has anyone else noticed that?

Anyone traded the Mini-Nikkei 225 MJNK Osaka - Japan (JPX)

Any thoughts on why it has been so dull the last month? I started trading it as well recently and it's nothing like previous few months. Do you also look at the Yen? It sometimes seem like they influence each other.

Do you feel obligated to sharing your proprietary research or advice with strangers? Free Advice?

I have helped people before, some for free and some for a fee. I actually prefer to help for free because it's then on my terms only and up to my mood. Depending on how I'm approached I will usually offer some brief initial advice and direction. Most people won't follow it anyway which is just...

IB's new build is incredibly slow

    1. Why is it that so many of us never received a proper advance notice until today? 2. Looks like your partners were also just notified about this HUGE impact change and given virtually no real notice: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/forum/showthread.php?t=65602 3. You released a stable...

    Asian Timezone -- Another Tradable?

Hi Kiwi, I'm located in an Asian timezone and looking at similar market alternatives. If I remember correctly you're on NinjaTrader? How do you get the SGX data? Feed NT from IB TWS or some data vendor? Thanks.

IB - firm-wide system modification. Is your account affected?

Probably, relative to scalpers. I only do about 1-5 stock day trades a day (several hundred a year) for the past 3 years. I'm sure other's experience with IB is different, on my trading frequency they "only" drop the ball on me a couple of times per year. Maybe I've been "lucky" :-)

IB - firm-wide system modification. Is your account affected?

I know what you mean. Actually I've been with IB for about 3 years now and have had very few issues. But as one of my trading buddies says: IB's commission and order types all sound great, but when I need that customer service once a year I need it pronto and I need it to be top notch...

IB - firm-wide system modification. Is your account affected?

Fair points, and thanks. This was written out of frustration with the situation. And I wasn't really expecting to be compensated. This is just one small trade out of thousands and is immaterial in itself. What is material though is that they have not only dropped the ball but also refused...

IB - firm-wide system modification. Is your account affected?

    1. Yes. 2. Question 3 is illogical and therefore mute in case of the position being in the red. In any case, even taking out question 3 all together from this post and correspondence then I believe there is material information here which IB customers should feel concerned about.

IB - firm-wide system modification. Is your account affected?

I put in an option order yesterday. The order was rejected, despite my account being approved for it - or so I thought. They later confirmed I wasn’t actually approved for the trade due to a problem in their compliance department. This (lightly edited) correspondence followed. Judge for...

Retail trading journal / trade log recommendations

Hi, I've only tried TradeLog and GainsKeeper demos. For active traders doing large number of trades they seem a bit expensive to me. I am using stocktickr pro, not for accounting purposes, although you could get reports on all your trades. It's strength for me is in helping you analyse...

    I'm switching to full-time

I do have a good job at a good company etc. however I don't enjoy it and would rather even take a pay cut (which I'm not) and do what I like. trading is a blue collar - the mechanics of it yes. the pre and post work around it isn't, IMO.

    I'm switching to full-time

I still feel I need to trade almost every day. I'm not a scalper and I've got a win rate of about 40%+, if I miss the few good days of the month then performance suffers. I know what you mean on the mental part, in a way my brain has already switched to thinking in terms of trading for a...

    I'm switching to full-time

I kind of answered that in the other replies. In short, I trade at nights, it's extremely taxing to work almost 2 full-time jobs. I rather trade than do any other work.

As mentioned earlier, I do equities only at this stage. I trade intraday whatever is moving.

    I'm switching to full-time

Hi Vectors, there's no need to shout ;-) (go easy on the caps lock). Why quitting: working in the day + trading at night has taken a toll on me, the markets open at 9:30pm (10:30pm in the winter) here. Money is not everything, I prefer to do what I enjoy doing, make a good living and...

    I'm switching to full-time

Good point. I'm actually planning on getting LESS lazy, or more accurately take better care of a lot of things I've neglected while working the whole day and trading all night (I'm overseas). A more balanced life - diet, exercise, relationship etc. are some of the main drivers behind giving up...
