One more observation on this market is that ahead of major US news, NFP, fed decision etc the Nikkei tends to also be in waiting mode with subdued volatility. Has anyone else noticed that?

Probably, relative to scalpers. I only do about 1-5 stock day trades a day (several hundred a year) for the past 3 years. I'm sure other's experience with IB is different, on my trading frequency they "only" drop the ball on me a couple of times per year. Maybe I've been "lucky" :-)

I kind of answered that in the other replies. In short, I trade at nights, it's extremely taxing to work almost 2 full-time jobs. I rather trade than do any other work.

As mentioned earlier, I do equities only at this stage. I trade intraday whatever is moving.
