Yup. Most firms have "excess SIPC", that's insurance from 3rd parties, not covered by SIPC. That could be interesting too. Cash & positions can be ties up for days, weeks or months if SIPC steps in. So you are insured but you don't want to be involved in one of these. kny 3 :cool:

Not necessarily. The OCC won't exercise them unless they are notified that they should do so. What % of traders and investors contacted their broker and said "Exercise the O-T-M 95 put?" Some thought they were worthless, others like you thought they would be exercised automatically bacause...

Why would you exercise them? Because when the stock stopped and didn't re-open, they were in-the-money. The OCC will exercise them automatically for you. kny 3 :cool:
