    position sizing for financial futures

I wanted to get some feedback how most of you are sizing your positions for treasury futures. Here is an example of my sizing style: Account size = 100k Largest loss = -3% percent of account allocated to system = 5% I would trade 2 ES for this system. Now if I want to trade TY for...

    LLC and 1256 contracts

All, Question for those trading in an LLC...since capital gains are passed down through schedule-k how can you split out the capital gains 60/40 like you do personally for 1256 contracts. My understanding is when you trade in LLC its passed as ordinary income and not an investment. I hope...

    taxes w/llc

Yeah I guess I am wondering about estimated taxes on capital gains versus wages...since capital gains is not consistent income stream my expectation would be that while you are liable for the tax on it, you do not have to pay it per quarter as you do for normal wages.

    taxes w/llc

Hey guys, Was wondering any of you that are incorporated as LLCs...do you pay yourself the capital gains quarterly and then file at same time or pay lump sum end of year. I am wondering if there are any issues as this is not normal wages so unsure if IRS would penalize me for not giving...

saliva..I feel your frustrations..being short IT trades from mid dec as well as day shorts today and nothing seems to work on downside. Just curious if you are planning on covering your shorts if we do close here or lower. I have a bad feeling if this is the best bears can do we pop next week.

    filing capital gains for 2008

rwk, so if I understand you correctly, even if I have a fulltime job, I need to pay estimated taxes based on my capital gains per quarter? What if the account fluctuates and you made money one quarter but lost the next quarter? Wouldn't I just be making things worse by paying out the money at...

    filing capital gains for 2008

Guys, If I have cap gains of say 100k for 2008 do I need to pay estimated taxes on that at end of calendar year or can I wait until I file my personal taxes in April? This is in 1256 contracts not that I imagine that makes a difference. Thanks!

condorll, I think then there was hope for the preferred to still have value...now all equity will be wiped out. However maybe with the expected impact on housing from this news, maybe we will rally Monday.

    es vs. sp

My current broker is optionsxpress. Their retail total cost is about $7-8 including comm/fees/other charges. I was told for the month of june my adjusted commission will be $4. I assume the fees/other charges will add up to another $1.5....I guess $5.5/ct per side isnt all that bad. I know IB is...

    es vs. sp

Thanks guys for both your responses. I guess it was more a comment/wishful thinking that I can reduce my cost basis with same net exposure( i.e. 1 SP instead of 50 ES). The few times I tried to get filled in the pit on SP the slippage was wayy more than what i would have paid if I had just done...
