    Think or Swim's Liquid Platform

FYI, NCompass is ready. The ex market makers that currently use it like it a lot. It doesn't have all the functionaliy that Thinkpipes (formerly ThinkOrSwim) has yet but I think it has already most of the functionality that professional traders need.

    Why use a database?

kdb's evaluation version has a 100MB storage limit and 1000 messages limit. If you want to buy it prepare to spend about 100k for a base install. They do however, make versions available to universities. If you want to go cheaper, try ORACLE and it's Time Series analysis package which shows...

there's only a Windows XP 64-Bit Edition for 64-Bit Extended Systems right now which is beta stage. I doubt that they will release a 64-Bit home edition. Running the 64-Bit Version right now is pretty much pain in the ass as the 64-Bit drivers from other hardware manufacturers are still...

    Full Clearing FCM

I know none that don't take IB's. The business is usally that the FCM's take on the big institutional accounts, whereas they leave the volume business to the IB's. I guess Velocity makes an exception but it's definitely the case for companies like merrill, recfo, ghco, rcg, etc.
