For those of you that are using Ninja with either TT or Zen-Fire (or have in the past), what kind of network connection do you have? DSL? Cable? T1? Other? Also, for those that say that the TT feed is faster than Zen-Fire (or vice versa), how are you measuring this?

Okay, so for kicks I thought I would look at selling one (1) naked put on the spyders. I took a look at SPY and picked the 140 strike with a May 18 expiration. Before I go "all-in" by being short 1 put (yes folks, that is a one), I decided to use the check margin feature that IB provides...

Stupid question but I have to ask... How do you bring up the calendar spreads in IB? What ticker symbol did you use? I can get the May crude market or the June crude market, but I don't know how to bring up the May/June spread. :confused:

Really? For IB? I guess I am a little surprised that your total roundtrip times (from order sent to order confirmation received) are under 200ms. I would have guessed much higher than that (say, on average, north of 300ms). Anyone else have times like this using IB as their broker?

After testing this out for a few days, I have noticed that market orders take a VERY long time to execute on the Paper Trader. I tried sending market orders for the Nasdaq futures on Globex and execution time averaged about 10 to 15 seconds! :confused: Markets orders should be executed...

Thanks for the replies! No slippage? What about partial fills? Part of what I would like to test involves market orders so slippage and partial fills are kind of important (and, most of the time, an unfortunate reality). Anyone tested market orders on the PaperTrader?

Okay, but what if I don't want to deal with the underlying stock at all? Let's say that I am long a calendar call spread and my short call gets assigned. I could just let them take my long call in the back month, right? But then my spread never gets a chance to reach its full potential...

How does early assignment effect your spread positions? From my perspective (that of a newbie), it seems that if you put a spread on and your get assigned on the short leg then you lose that particular profit opportunity. Basically, you would have to start over from scratch. Is this true...

A question about stop market orders... What happens to a stop market order if, when it is submitted, the market has already exceeded the stop price? Here's an example of what I mean: Let's say the current market is 9x10 (9 bid, 10 ask). I'm long from a price of 10 and I submit a sell...

I'm curious... What are your overall expressions of such a position? Do you think it could be a good way to get your foot in the door at a hedge fund, bank, etc.? What are the odds that you could start as an execution trader and move into another role with more responsibilities...

I am looking into pairs (spread) trading and I'm considering the use of IB for order execution. Does anyone know of an available autospreader for IB? I am looking for something similar in functionality to what TT offers with XTrader. Thanks for the help!
