Has anybody transferred money out of treasurydirect?

Ah -- that's what I was looking for. I thought it was like a bond coupon with a face value of $10k. But from that section, it sounds more like it is $10k worth of bond, and partial amounts can be cashed out. Thank you for pointing that out, unfortunately it's too easy for me to miss these kinds...

Has anybody transferred money out of treasurydirect?

Newbie question -- treasurydirect.com looks great for some IBonds (currently with 8% - 9%). But their website looks so old, looks like it is from 1999. Is it trustworthy, has anyone had a good or bad experience with trying to get their money out of the site and back into a personal account? I...

why not put it all in baby bonds?

I saw an article on seekingalpha where the author was making the case for 'baby bonds'. These are usually listed with a name like 'n.nn% Notes due 2024', with the percent being 6%, 7%, 8% or so. His case was that despite the Covid blip of Mar 2020, the price remains fairly stable over years. An...

What risk if PSU not high enough wattage for video card?

Great site -- I'll probably be reviewing this for weeks before making a decision. Thanks everyone for the help -- it's clear, the machine I bought in a pinch is not really as much machine as I want.

What risk if PSU not high enough wattage for video card?

Yes -- it is on the PSU, which I saw when I opened the shell. Plus, it's on the website for the specs. Honestly -- I am actually very unhappy that such an important detail is left off the info they provide on sellnig websites (like bestbuy.com or newegg.com). I would not have known if I had not...

What risk if PSU not high enough wattage for video card?

I got a new computer last month, and put in my 4-year-old dual-monitor video card. I noticed the PSU is 180 watt, then today saw that the video card says to use 300w PSUs or higher. What is the risk of running this system? Is it towards the side of 'the video won't display as well', which I'm...

93.33% Accuracy and Better is Achievable with this Forex Strategy.

I once found a 99% winning strategy in Forex. Didn't even have to think, you could just trade it randomly long or short. The secret was: limit = 1 pip stop = 100 pips But it always netted out to around 0 profit ....

What's more likely to be dead - CPU or motherboard?

Last week I tried: - remove memory, and try them one at a time, in a different slot from where they were at the beginning - removed video card and plug monitor directly into mobo VGA out - new SSD drive - replaced power supply with new one This week: - pulled out CPU and fan, resat CPU, applied...

What's more likely to be dead - CPU or motherboard?

I'm going with you on this one. I know computers have a limited lifespan, and in fact I already got a replacement machine for exactly that reason. Repairing this was more for a hobby / interest. But eventually you end up trying this part and that part, replacing all the parts, and spending...

What's more likely to be dead - CPU or motherboard?

But old computers never die -- they just go to Linux to reboot !! :D

What's more likely to be dead - CPU or motherboard?

I forgot to mention -- one of the things I tried was I replaced the CMOS battery, hit the power button with everything unplugged to fully discharge, waited 5 minutes.

What's more likely to be dead - CPU or motherboard?

I was looking on ebay for mobo / CPU replacements and removed the CPU fan -- I think this might be it. The thermal grease looks kind of spotty, feels gummy.

What's more likely to be dead - CPU or motherboard?

I have a 10-year old HP workstation, worked great until it would not start up. The power came on the shell's button for 2 seconds, turned off, then shell button lit up again, and fans turned on. But computer did not boot up, no BIOS or anything. I got a new power supply and hard drive, but same...

Why not just write OTM covered calls on your stocks

Given this comment, it sounds like, I'd have to hold the stock for the whole time I have the covered call, and I have to hold the covered call until the expiration to collect the premium. So, if the stock dropped with 2 weeks to go until expiration, I wouldn't be able to sell the stock; or, I'd...

Why not just write OTM covered calls on your stocks

I agree with lylec305 -- it's been my experience that what I think will happen and what actually does happen are totally different. So while I'm holding them, waiting (hoping) from them to come back, may as well make some benefit while waiting a long, long time ...

    Dividend Income ETFs ??

The problem I've found with 3x inverse ETFs is that they usually don't have a perfect 3x match. Usually they are close, but often my dividend payers will move up 2%, the inverse moves down 6.75%; the dividend payers move down 2%, then inverse goes up 5%. Sometimes they both go down together...

Why not just write OTM covered calls on your stocks

I've just started looking into options, and had a newbie idea. Not sure why it wouldn't work, of course because I'm a newbie: If I generally trade stocks, with 6-month to 2-year time horizon, and target gain of 20% - 30%, why not write a OTM covered call against the stock? Since I plan to hold...

Who Exactly is Trying to Kill off Cash?

Transferring under the limit is not safe either -- I read an article on 'structuring' where if you move funds under the limit, they think you are trying to sneak under the reporting rule and can seize funds. (sorry, it was a while back so I don't have the link)
