AAPL for a one week trade?

I'm very long AAPL but feel it will correct for a small length of time, in the near future If you want to short apple, I'd suggest dealing with options so you don't risk much...or have a very close stop loss. (I'm currently short Apple, with a target of 450. No stop loss since it's an option)

    AAPL earnings

Currently the iphone 3gs is free with a contract. Next year the iphone 4 will (probably) be free with a contract. Not that it's hard for economics to override cachet here, but at this rate it will take a long time to happen

    AAPL earnings

Ecosystem. example: a lot of cars are rolling off the assembly line today with built-in ipod/iphone connectors. Though maybe not the best example, that showcases how easy it is for someone to bring an iphone into their lives, and why someone would want to keep iphone in their lives. That...

    AAPL earnings

iPhone demand is so high that it sparks scarcity riots. iPhone demand is so high that entire countries run out of the product within 10 minutes of launch. And the 5 isn't even out yet

    Shorted AAPL at 426.99

Nice, and good call getting out of it when you did. After earning maybe look at getting back in

Going SHORT on AAPL at 379.19 12/15

Advice for the future: - You may not want to short a stock where the phone sells out in an entire region in under 10 minutes (Hong Kong), and an entire country in three hours (China) - You may not want to short a stock where the company just expanded into 20+ countries - You may not...

    Career in Trading

Don't let everyone's comments get you down. You don't need to know what "forex" means if you're simply trading some stocks (although you'll learn what it means after reading people's posts enough). Also, what type of career are you envisioning? There are maybe two or three dozen career paths...

Buying Mutual Funds with Portfolio Margin at IB

If you buy a mutual fund with IB, and hold it for 30 days, after that 30 day period you can purchase 75% more. Say I buy a mutual fund for $10,000. After 30 days, I'll be able to buy an additional $7,500

Using Ninjatrader, need a cheaper broker

MB trading looks perfect for me at $4.95 a trade. Thanks! (and thanks olias as well...the only reason IB didn't work for me is because my trading strategy depends on a 1 cent profit, and the round trip at IB is 1 cent a share. Otherwise I would go with them)

Using Ninjatrader, need a cheaper broker

Does anyone know of a broker whose commissions are less than $10 per trade that also works with Ninjatrader? I'm currently using Ninjatrader with TD Ameritrade, and while trade sizes are say 100-200, in order to pull a profit with TD I have to make trades like 2000 large :( Any suggestions...

How do I actually invest in an emerging market?

Good info! Exactly the info I needed (but if anyone else has any advice, experience, info, I'd love to hear it!)

How do I actually invest in an emerging market?

So...noob question I know, but it's something I've never done before. How do I actually invest in an emerging market? Like, say I want to invest in Afghanistan. Do I go look for an ETF? Is there like...a stock that's designated as "the Afghanistan emerging market stock"?

BP is gone. Under 5 in 12 months

BP's profit before taxes is 5 billion. So far they've spend 1 billion on clean up. They have the money to pay for this. And though it'll hurt like a bitch, they are far from bankrupt. Cleanup estimates are what...25 billion at the moment? So that's 5 years of profit, which is far...

    huge dividend blue chips

Keep in mind with the rapid fluctuation of stocks over the past two years, dividend yeilds are not as acurate as they were in the past. As in, GE's stock used to be $32 a share, and it's div yeild was 2% or so. Then GE's stock went to $6, and their div yeild was suddenly around 10%. That's...

Goldman Sachs ups Citi to buy ...

I think you missed the joke. The reason GS has been in so much trouble is because they were trying to get people to buy things they knew would fail, so their profits would be higher when they short sold it

I'm not buying this gap down open...

The investor in me has taken over the trader in me. I'm buying-and-holding once a week. Hopefully in a few months we'll hit a bottom, else I'll run out of money
