    Jon Najarian wearing green wristband?

Saw him on CBOETV wearing a green wristband, is this a sign of support for Iran's "green movement" or does he usually wear that? Wael Ghonim was wearing something similar during his NBC interview and mentioned later it was in support of Iranian protestors. Najarian is also a common Iranian...

    Bad GLD choice

Your off to a good start.. down 50% What was your forecast for GLD? Buying those calls would suggest you expected an above average speedy move up.. Even with lower end IV levels, I would of thought it is not the environment to be buying naked out of the money call options.. although I did buy...

Success in trading stocks a prerequisite for success in trading options?

Is it tougher to find a successful daytrader or options trader amongst the greater trading population? I think the later. I'm not talking about those that say buy leaps or use options to hedge their stock positions. You just don't really "hear" about them that much (outside Market Wizards books)...

Should I pull the trigger on Sheridan Mentoring Program

Making good money depends a lot on a persons account size and risk tolerence. If your trading iron condors on a retirement account for instance, your not gonna be trading huge size. But that person might be very passionate/knowledgeable about options and can do a very informative class on...

Should I pull the trigger on Sheridan Mentoring Program

Why don't you attend one of his live trading seminars first to see how he handles live markets, and you get the cost of the seminar deducted from the mentoring if you do decide to take that up, win-win. Apparently he has a very different off-screen persona, there is a youtube video excerpt of...

Same vehicle, Same Strategy, every month

Hey Gait, Yeah you raise some valid points. I think IC's can still be profitable even if vols go up as long as it isn't a huge move up as the trade would just need more time for theta to do it's bit. If I put on an IC 2-3 months out and vol's go down a fair bit, then I can take off (usually...

Same vehicle, Same Strategy, every month

How realistic is this for long term success trading options? I've learned a great deal about options for some time now and have been trading iron condors since about June (learned a lot from Mark W's blog, thanks Mark!). Obviously conditions have been ideal and yesterday closed the put side of a...

options . . . very hard to make money

If a trader buys high delta options with at least 3 months to expiry, then why is it so much difficult to make a profit with options than stocks? Only major disadvantage I can see is bid/ask spread, but as long as the trades have a descent forecasted move then that shouldn't be a huge problem...

options . . . very hard to make money

Off topic, but whats the best book for volatility in general and skews, etc... natenbergs book is good, but looking for something more focused on vol as used today. Closest I could find is Adam Warner's book, but Amazon reviews (if to be believed) are less than stellar. Plus his blog has about...

    Spreads are hostage to expiration

I have a problem with debit spreads mostly, but can justify credit spreads if the circumstances are right.. trading deep in the money options are a better bet IMO if you are good with getting direction right (is anyone?) .. no need to let things DRAG OUT painfully till expiration.. and no 2, 3...

How do you draw your support and resistance lines ?

It's easier to "see" support and resistance on larger timeframes, such as weekly charts (obviously because there is less noise..), so practice doing that first to get the hang of it. Then try it out with daily and then hourly charts. For me understanding how to "correctly" see and draw s/r...
