WACC is a good suggestion. I'll begin looking at that in the future. I also like your suggestion for historical growth rate. In fact, I used to take last years earnings and forecast them to the future using the historical long-term rate but I've found TTM to be just as reliable and more...

    Publishing Stocks Under-valued

Kevin, I probably didn't answer your question. Value = (Net Income + Dep/Amort - Cap Ex) / 30-year bond rate / shares outstanding. I occasionally ignore Dep/Amort and Cap Ex when they are close together. Such was the case with TRB.

I don't know what method Morningstar uses to calculate valuation but I've found their analysis is very good. They have a 5-star rating on TRB, NYT, and a 4-star on GCI. They are my primary source to supplement my own research. Also, I'm always interested in how well earnings explain the...

    Publishing Stocks Under-valued

The million dollar question. I've followed TRB the closest and it seems the stock is being avoided because TRB is aggressively seeking growth through acquisitions. The company has a history of over-paying for acquisitions and, in turn, has low returns on invested capital. The company does...

    AUD/USD Buy signal

Once the pair traded below the wedge I posted this, "I'm camping out on it now since the bottom fell out of it. That was a good entry at 7515." I did follow up on it. I didn't trade it so there was nothing more to say. Had I gone long they I completely agree with you and I would have posted a...

    AUD/USD Buy signal

Nope, nothing wrong with the analysis. It just went the other way. Nothing to call me on. No move up, no trade. Still no substance. You still can't tell me where I said, "I'm long AUDUSD at ABCD price." You cannot support your critique with evidence so what you’re saying has no...

    AUD/USD Buy signal

Sorry, no substance. You act like you've been standing over my shoulder watching me for the past 2 days. Go whine somewhere else.

    AUD/USD Buy signal

How could I take a beating if I never traded it. Tell me where I posted, "I'm long AUDUSD at ABCD price." I posted, "The bottom fell out of it so I'm camping out on it." In simple English, that means I didn't trade it. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

    AUD/USD Buy signal

Read closely, "I'm camping out on it now since the bottom fell out of it. That was a good entry at 7515." That's what I posed once the trade was scratched. What more is there to follow up on??

    AUD/USD Buy signal

Good God, I posted the damn thing as a setup -- as a long above the falling wedge. It never traded above it so it was a scratch trade. When ET starts sending me paychecks I'll follow up on everything I post. You're right, I will think twice about posting anything in the future -- so I can...

    Buffett's Current Holdings

Agree totally, there is something very fishy about the KMRT/SHLD deals but his holdings are sure worth keeping an eye on. I bought AZO in summer '04 and again Spring '05. He only holds a handful of stocks so it's not hard to watch what he's doing. Of course, you gotta do your own DD. You...

    Buffett's Current Holdings

Another guy you may want to watch is Eddie Lampert. He is the guy who merged Kmart with Sears and has generated annual returns in the area of 29% over the past 16 years. Unknown to many, he is well ahead of Buffett over that period. He was actually kidnapped a few years back...
