NASDAQ will cancel all trades executed...

CNBC just mentioned HHH as one where they're busting tradings. That I can believe, but they also mentioned AAPL which was trading at 240 at 1:40. It would have had to drop to 96 to qualify for a bust??? I see the low at about 201.

Do certain symbols mean revert more than others?

I've heard ETFs mean revert more than stocks and certain ETFs mean revert more than other ETFs. Is this true? Does prior performance indicate future returns? I have a mean reversion system I'm backtesting. I ran it with 2400+ symbols (Stocks & ETFs) for the '94-'99 period. It generated 7,732...

    DTN Ripoff

I've subscribed to DTN's NxCore since March '08, paying them monthly $366. Initially, I asked if I could get a discount if I paid yearly in advance, and they said no. I assumed it was a monthly contract, but if you read it, it says: Initial contract period (if not selected, initial term will be...

Easy to Borrow (ETB) and Hard to Borrow (HTB)

Southwest Securities (SWS) does my clearing and they've picked up a nasty habit of charging borrowing fees on ETB stocks held overnight. They're charging me up to 4% on stocks and I don't even find out about it 'til the end of the month. I won't even borrow a stock if it's over 8%. I didn't...

    Modified Uptick Rule

"Under our Modified Uptick Rule, short selling can only be initiated at a price above the highest prevailing national bid by posting a quote for a short sale order priced above the national bid. As such, the execution of a short sale would occur only at a higher price than the prevailing market...

    Isn't Naked Shorting illegal?

The title of the article ought to be: "The SEC will actually attempt to enforce their own rules (but just for two stocks)"

Will you stay with Cyber/Schwab if they only offer per trade pricing?

I use Fidelity ATPro as my backup platform to CyberTrader. I think it's an excellent option for you. Excellent support, good access to ECNs, good execution, Level II, charts are fine. I don't think it's pre & post market access is good though, but I'm not clear on the details.

    why there is sudden down?

The rate of the drop combined with the duration was pretty impressive. I think it had something to do with the elimination of the uptick rule. I'm an equities trader and almost half of my trades are shorts but I think the elimination of the uptick rule was a mistake. Fear is a stronger emotion...

    why there is sudden down?

Who is Axel Weber and why is he hawkish? Some German Economist causes this drop? That's what Rick Santelli said on CNBC.

Will you stay with Cyber/Schwab if they only offer per trade pricing?

Hey AAABeltway, I'm on 6.20.9 and use Iceberg orders everyday. Just check the Spec. Cond box in the stock box. Is there any chance CTPro will hang around past the end of the year??? I'm having a hard time getting motivated to switch brokers, 'cuz I'm hoping against hope that Schwab will come...

    just bought IOC and AAPL

I think it's too late to short, IMO. But were you able to borrow shares??? Good to see Alan Farley's still at it. I loved his book, tho it was tough to read. I haven't been to his website in a long time. Thanks. I see he thought SNX would rebound. I got killed shorting that yesterday. Looks...

    just bought IOC and AAPL

I tried to short IOC yesterday, but couldn't borrow any shares from either broker. Woulda been nice. I saw this (see below) right before the bell, and thought it would rebound after it's 31% plunge. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 15:57 IOC...

Is FIX the way to go for automated trading with IB?

For some strange reason, it does matter when you use IB's API. There's a footnote on the unbundled fee schedule: "...only the bundled fee structure is available for Non-Smart Routed API orders." Hopefully, that's just the API and not FIX???

Is FIX the way to go for automated trading with IB?

Thanks for the replies! There's still the question about whether I can use directed orders and still get the unbundled commission rate. I emailed IB this morning but no reply yet...

Is FIX the way to go for automated trading with IB?

Does it make sense to use IBs FIX for order entry / execution reports and concurrently use IB's API for feedback on positions, shortable stocks and margin limits? When you enter an order via FIX does it show up in TWS? Using FIX, can I get the unbundled commission rate for orders directed...
