Intel's "Core 2 Duo" CPU Chips

Pentium D's are rubbish. If you want something cheap then wait for the Core 2 Duo's and Pentium D's will fall in price. But if you want something fast either buy AMD chips or the Core 2 Duo's. http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2795

    Save the COT report.

The COT report is produced as a plain text file so any charting software that can import text data can use COT. I use COT data within TradeStation.

    Please evaluate this strategy

I can't see anywhere what market this is trading on? How many inputs do you have? Have you just adjusted your 28 inputs to get the right results? How much optimization have you done? Is this the best it produces or an average based on the stability of the input parameters?

Is TradeStation as "buggy" as QuoteTracker?

TS and QuoteTracker are completely different programs. The QuoteTracker download is 8Mb, the latest TS download is 35Mb. TS is very buggy.

Tradestation - How many strategies can you run

Yes. There is an approximately 500 chart limit in TS8.x. It isn't a physical limitation but some kind of resource problem where TS just hangs up with around 500 charts. Whether you can get to that 500 limit depends on how resource intensive your strategies are and how powerful your PC is...

Tax cuts have not created a single job

I'm not American so I have no axe to grind here, but your conclusion doesn't follow from your data. Without tax cuts the 'actual change in jobs' could have been 0 (or it could have been 10 million). Take data, add personal bias, come to a random conclusion. Just a quick glance at the...

    Backtesting based on valuation metrics

Are you looking for a software package that can backtest on fundamental data or a data provider that supplies the fundamental data you want? If you have the data then you backtest on anything you want with TradeStation. You just import your own data. But TS doesn't actually have fundamental...

    Compiled EasyLanguage?

There are several discussions of this in the TS forums. Look at the Hot Links for All FAQ and look for '300. DATA: SECURITY & PROTECTING YOUR CODE'.

    TradeStation for Tick Backtesting

Norm, You should also ask around on the TS forums. Several people have tick files that have a year or more of data. You can build your own tick files going forward. Although TS only provides 30 days (at present) it stores that data on your hard disk. If you change the settings so that...

    Tradestation 2000i questions

This is just a download program. It copies the data from Yahoo!. Why not go direct to Yahoo! and save yourself $69? Also, I think it is only for EOD data, not intraday.

    You're ideal system under $3500

Obviously, the best thing to do would be to get RS before you buy your new system so that you can set it up and see how much memory you are using. If you can't do this then, personally, I would go with 2Gb memory. You might not need it but it's better to be safe than sorry. I only use TS...

    You're ideal system under $3500

You don't 'need' more memory, but certainly you're using more memory then you currently have physical RAM. Whether you buy more memory depends on whether you feel your system is sluggish or not (and whether you care!). If you're using eSignal and you click on a TradeStation window how long...

    You're ideal system under $3500

We're talking about TradeStation here! If he's an equity trader then he's probably also using RadarScreen (insidebuy - are you using RS?). TS and RS are massive resource hogs for both memory and CPU. I agree that getting the very fastest processor will have a big price premium. Ultimately it...

    You're ideal system under $3500

insidebuy, You have the advantage of already using TradeStation so you can work a very simple thing out - how much memory do you need. Start your PC in the morning, do a typical days work and then at the end of the day look at your 'Peak Commit Charge' (see attached picture) this will tell...

The New Commodity Trading Systems and Methods by Perry Kaufman

If only you'd asked a few days ago. Just got back from New York and saw it in a bookshop there. Could have brought it back with me. :(
