Heres a question about Prop Firms

With that kind of capital I would give Schonfeld a call. They won't mind doing remote professional (gives you leverage, they are a pretty stable company (they acquire others and are incredibly profitable)), and they generally like remotes who aren't part of their program to put up 100K or so...

    Traders having ADD Part 2

Well, I think issues with ADD are sometimes more simple and related to right livelihood than people think. But I am no expert in this. So are you a trader or a financial advisor? Trading for me, definitely helps me focus. Mainly its because what I really love, and I have developed some...

    Traders having ADD Part 2

I don't think you have ADD, that stuff is just not very interesting, period. I bet trading gets you focused much better, am I wrong?

Isn't it spelled "aDD." I too, suffer from the breast fixation problem.

Any good prop firm in or around Philadelphia

Well, for his benefit, I elaborate. Try to get into a training program, but don't waste much time on it. Its more important that you make a reasonable plan, and do it (trade). You find out quickly if this is the profession you want it to be, and thus, if it isn't, likely give up less...

    Traders having ADD Part 2

Well, I know maybe this is a false assumption, but at least you can type.

Its for his benefit, not yours. I apologize for the confusion that you feel.

Any good prop firm in or around Philadelphia

Who the heck is this guy? Sounds kinda pompous to me, and he doesn't quite get the meaning. He seems to think that a good trader needs to get into a "coveted training program", especially if he is a "type A." To the original poster: these programs are absolutely NOT necessary for you to...

Any good prop firm in or around Philadelphia

Generic seems more of a real prop firm in the Carlin group. Genesis seems more like a retail shop with some professional leverage.

Trading is Freaking Easy Easy Easy

You are at the zero point. Good trading is boring. So it goes for all those who lose miserably cauase they search for excitement in trading. Find something to do to pump yourself up and get your juices flowing. Keep trading, just get the rush somewhere else. I don't know what it would be...

    Why Use Prime Brokers?

I agree, except for the comment on SLK and rates. With 250K, we got less than .01 easily. I don't know if we are comparing apples to apples though. We did merger arb, cleared through slk(goldman) and used redi plus. My sense is that this is a different deal, but my experience is that we...

    HLV Trading

The tax implications with a 1099 are more complicated than getting k-1. I am not sure what they (for 1099) exactly are, but I would learn all I could about 1099 trading income and how to treat it, remember that you ahve to pay double self-employment tax and fica (the part that your employer...

    sept 11 anniversary

Yeah, concerning trading I think this is a stupid thread too. But I haven't slept tonight yet, and in two hours it will be the four year anniversary of when the planes hit. The last few years it didn't really affect me, I had friends who died in those buildings. Thats kinda what I reflect...

    Anyone been successful with Generic?

Well, you may do several drafts of and agreement with the firm. At least I would look forward to it. They make a proposal, you get it, edit it, send it back, etc...back and forth. Some things to consider in writing: buying power, commish, all in or not, any fees for software or not, margin...

    Anyone been successful with Generic?

I second the commission free approach, when you put money down and you split 80/20. There is a lot more incentive then by the firm to work with you. I don't know if a commish free deal exists, but I second that notion.

    Negotiating w Prop

First, is your rate all-in or plus minus ECN pass through rates. If its all-in, thats a great rate. If its plus minus ECN fees, then you could be getting a good or bad deal depending on the volume you trade. If you negotiated 450K during the day, would it be fair to say you trade between...

    ETG+Schoney?

Agreed, and since technology is so qualitatively homogenous, it makes sense to pay less for the same product. But, some people compare apples to oranges, and are always right. Mschey, the trend is that most "back-ends" will continue to improve, and cost less to use. I only hope...

I agree too that few of these agreements are worth what people put up.
