Keep your keyboard clean or wash your hands!

http://www.abc.net.au/science/k2/moments/s1143577.htm Sometimes, if things are a bit rushed at work, we might grab a quick sandwich at our office desk. But you'd never be in such a hurry, as to even dream of eating off the toilet seat, because we all "know" that toilets are really "dirty"...

    Attn: QCharts Users

I certainly agree with some of the previous posts. Someone like DTN should buy qcharts for the front end. qcharts should not be purchased by esignal nk, mike can fix the esignal charts so they don't look so bad, and somone else who has a solid data feed can use qcharts to compete.

I had to get a real Job

I'll second Ditch's comments - perhaps have a look at the bonds ? If I had my time again on the futures I would have started with a 5 yr treasury or BOBL. They are (excluding economic releases) less harsh instruments compared to the ES/NQ. Every bugger in the world is trading the ES/NQ which...

    tax for non-resident futures traders

Sorry, I forgot to add - which I am sure you will probably know already - you will need to complete the relevant paper work with your broker, the W-8BEN form, to exempt you from backup withholding tax.

    tax for non-resident futures traders

Not sure where you are from, but usually if you are not a US citizen and are a non-US resident, you do not have to pay tax in the US. Typically you would have to declare your trading income in your home country should you be defined as a resident there for tax purposes, ie reside there for...

    Recommended for new traders

Yep, I agree with what's been said before here - if you only get one good idea out of a book its probably worth the price. For people starting out, reading widely is a good way to find help find a style/methodology you might be comfortable with. Don't need to reinvent the game, reading can help...

I need a broker that lets me trades foreign equities.

As the other folk have noted, IB is probably the best for physical equities through the UK & Europe. If you want access to Japan, Korea and other Asian physicals check these guys out. http://home.boom.com.hk/ cheers

Any aussie or kiwi traders here? Got a question..

Hi scientist zen is spot on with the sfe bonds. Look at an intra day chart and it will make you puke if you are used to trading the bobl/bunds or treasury notes. Also agree better for daily swing trading. The spi is also a shitty market too if you are used to europe & usa. But as we've...

    Trading speculatively on the LME

    1. Correct. Same as forward fx. You are basically specifying a forward value date. As you said, the most actively traded contract will be the '3month' price, but there is no reason why you can't go 1 week out for example, or if you day trade for spot. 2. The short answer to your second...

    Trading speculatively on the LME

Hi. The LME does have some slightly different conventions. If you have something specific in mind you need to know I can probably help. That being said it is still a futures market but has elements of the OTC fx market. If you want to trade there you'll likely have to go through a global shop...

High Pings & Latencies in Day Trading?

Hi Scientist You raise an interesting point as to what it would be like trading where the latency is really low - and whether it would be noticeable. Perhaps if it is noticeable Nitrus is not fulfilling his potential as a trader - having the cushion of low pings - waking up each morning and...

High Pings & Latencies in Day Trading?

scientist there are a few things people in our part of the world can take away from this discussion a. its nice to know you don't need relatively miniscule pings to make money b. perhaps we should just move closer to the exchanges and make FIVE times as much...

Any aussie or kiwi traders here? Got a question..

50 cent Yes I have also wondered about the latency thing in the past as others in these parts have too. The ping times tuna puts forward are representative for pretty much any east australian location. If you sniff around you can also get unlimited ADSL 512k packages for around A$80 [if 6GB...

Howzit MS - Probably the best fx trading platform out there. As someone with an fx background I can tell you this is the closest platform you'll get to what is used interbank, ie Reuters or EBS. Its basically an FX ECN where you can bid and ask & you'll see tighter spreads than anywhere else...
