IMHO Sounds like IB may be ring fencing its risk & getting ready for a possible meltdown. Shifting risk away from account protection & dumping it on clients & the incompetence of the hk authorities - who ALWAYS side with big business interests anyway. -) ( I may be wrong - come on IB come up...

Consider this The entire financial & business world relies ( foolishly?) on the borrower of 1st resort ie Treasury debt to back their operations & stow their cash IF the faith in the T debt is shaken or they do default, how do you see the banks, brokers, clearing houses, pension companies...

OK, Sure there is no easy answers, however here is the rub, markets are getting more & more computer traded, meanwhile access to facilities & meaningful computational power is increasing, so how does a manual trader learn the skills to evolve, compete & survive? btw its an old problem...
