someone closes their positions eod, then it would be all cash? SIPC doesnt cover that? what determines if your acct with IB is a futures acct(making it ineligible for SIPC coverage) when you're allowed to trade futures, stocks, currency, etc?

Should someone with a $100K+ cash acct use a secondary broker? seeing that SIPC only covers up to $100K for cash accts(futures), what are some good ideas for secondary brokers? Thanks in advance.

I know its guaranteed by SIPC(up to $100K in cash claims), but do we have to worry about downtime?

if its an exchange minimum, then why are other brokers significantly less than those amounts listed? if its the minimum required by CME, then ES should also be $6188 by all brokers? i've only been trying out ES & YM since ER2 is out.

not sure when the last margin increase was, but i just noticed its now: YM $6875 initial $5500 overnight ES $6188 initial $4950 overnight NQ $4000 initial $3200 overnight bizarre how NQ havent gone up much, while YM has gone up ~3x. YM margin was also less than ES until recently...

RUT appears to be leading the market. all the other indices was red and RUT was up 7pts?

intraday initial margin from ER2 went from $2625 to $5250. thats a bit much. other competitive brokers increasing their margin too?

i imagine most got stopped on that initial spike? unless no stop was put in. that would've suck to get stopped out and then see it sell off like that.

ER2 led the market again. It sure is often that ER2 is always the 1st to make the big move down or up. ER2 sold off 5pts while ES was still ~+5 during that move off the open. Yesterday, ER2 was +5 when ES was still well in the red.

It just happens that ER2 goes thru periods(a few days) in which it is way more heavily bought/sold than ES/Dow. ER2 was behaving like this during that last move up to 730.

money going from big caps into small caps. theres just periods of a couple of days here and there that $RUT act like this.

yeah ER2 price action yesterday was very baffling. ER2 was big in the green well before any other futs.
