Bullish or Bearish on the Dow?

Haha yes, despite my belief in technical analysis I think this past year has shown you are ultimately right. But the Fed has to let the dollar down slowly so there should be some small breaks along the way

Bullish or Bearish on the Dow?

Hey blue bull, I am definitely looking for more confirmation of a substantial breakout. Otherwise, we still have a rising wedge on the weekly, and a weak RSI. If the dollar were to rebound and the VIX to break out, we could even retest the 50 MA below on the daily. Look at this chart to see...

    Active and Tradeable

I found stocks reporting earnings to be too volatile for me ... I just ended up sticking with a basket of heavily traded stocks and ETFs ... mainly just the big names

    Today's FAZ action

I was experiencing that today ... a lot of jumpy movements on some of the ETFs and banking stocks I follow.

Technical case for the top being in?

swtrader ... couldn't agree with you more! TA is working. This monthly resistance has been stopping the bulls. If November can't beat this resistance, we are entering into a down leg. Even without the 20 MA, we are hitting against resistance via a trendline the last minute of this...

    Tommorrow's short covering rally

Yes, when selling happens, it happens fast. From the same link I posted up above, D-7 said in his video tonight that markets drop 66% faster than they rise. Could see a sympathy balance tomorrow, but I think the direction of the day will be decided in pre-market.

Life after trading - busted traders

I would start slowly ... I imagine starting at a prop firm would be going like 0-100 pretty quickly. If trading is a game of make it until you break it, most people just break too early ..

    Tommorrow's short covering rally

So I AM only a college student, but I am trying to use these message boards as a place to learn and grow as a trader, and I will try to talk about what I am doing so that I can learn and be more successful. Being a student isn't a bad time to learn how to trade. I bought some URE at the...

Tired of TD Ameritrade (round trips)

I was mad that I couldn't day trade properly without $25,000, but working my way up to that allowed me to learn under smaller position sizes. It took me awhile to build my account size up, but in tha.t time, I was able to learn a lot about the markets So maybe it's not the worst thing in the world.

    Trade the News

I get Twitter updates sent to my phone ... and within a couple days you can tell if the person you are following is a real deal or not. The first couple months of my trading I went through various subscriptions before realizing which ones fitted my style. I don't know if I would trade...

    Great Place to go Long

Despite the power of a primary trend, the decision to enter today shouldn't be based on whatever was missed or happening yesterday (and every yesterday back to March). The setups are different ... Technical analysis leaves room/cases for both bulls and bears ...

Print a disclaimer and put it next to your monitor as you read ET and other sites

Yes, I've always thought that psychology should be part of the edge, not separate. And maybe posting on ET isn't all about giving advice, it can be about finding others who are like you, as well as others who are not like you, and using that to your benefit.

    Different Moving Averages

Interesting that's what your MAs are .... I was told to use a 20, 50, 200 SMA ... because those are the ones most commonly used by traders, and they have a greater likelihood of becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. they have not failed me yet. thoughts???

Where would you live if you can make more than $200000 per year from stock mark.

not far away is Washington State ... also no state income tax, tons of beautiful scenery, Seattle and other metropolitan areas, and good education (if you have a family).

WSJ today: Democrats Weigh Tax on Financial Transactions

I don't want to pay more taxes :-) But I think there are many valid points here being made as to why we shouldn't; many of which other people have yet to learn, so these posts serve a great purpose.

The Rise of Tripled Leveraged ETF's

Such a shame. Once again FINRA and the big guys going after the individual trader/ small rules instead of the big problems in trading.

    Anyone using Google finance?

I use Google from time to time, but Marketwatch is by far much better for trading news. Their news ticker is always updating with relevant news and good articles from time to time.
