    Can Someone Help Me Remember...?

I wonder if he's going to come out with a new set of videos during the next crisis. Another video I remember from the Lehman collapse was a guy livestreaming his portfolio as it went to 0 (before livestreaming was a thing). Anyone remember that guy/video?

    FINRA trades and Interactive Brokers

It's pretty easy to see where this is going. No one is going to make a market when there are a few players front-running any legitimate bid/offer. The "privileged" members you mention have an incentive to make bids/offers even wider for fatter profits. I'm shocked FINRA could be involved...

    Glory Days

I've been analyzing spreads for quite a while and they are unnecessarily terrible in many exchange traded securities. I tried helping the market by offering a better price, but all my bids/offers were front-run by either the price I had entered or $.0001. Nobody can make a market in this...

    Glory Days

I go to Elitetrader every year or so to post a question and yesterday I found myself back again and was shocked to see how little volume there was in the forums. Only 15 threads started yesterday, and it looks like that was a good day. I remember in 2009 there seemed to be a new thread posted...

    FINRA trades and Interactive Brokers

Thanks for the info. I've been looking at these trades for a few months now, and there is basically an algorithm that front runs any order that is trading in a stock with a spread above a certain level. Generally, if I'm putting a bid order out there at 50.00 there will be FINRA trades at...

    FINRA trades and Interactive Brokers

A good example of this is TFI, where over half of the trades are FINRA. My order is entered via IBs SMART, so not sure where the trades are ending up, probably ARCA.

    FINRA trades and Interactive Brokers

Interactive Brokers has a nice feature now where you can look at the time and Sales and if you hover over a trade, you can see the exchange it was made on. I noticed many trades that were occurring at my level (bid or ask), but I was not getting filled. I contacted IB, and they said that they...

With Market at All-Time Highs, Huge Execution News

From the sounds of it, if it's a 52 week low/high AND pre/post market trade, they have to bust the trade if you make the request. You do have a limited amount of time to file, which I believe is laid out in the pdf I attached.

With Market at All-Time Highs, Huge Execution News

The exchange is allowed to break trades they feel are way outside the market, but they have rules that govern when they can take place, and in this case, the rule is set so that any pre/post market trade that hits a new high can be cancelled just because you don't like the result.

With Market at All-Time Highs, Huge Execution News

I just had some premarket trades broken by ARCA, at a very reasonable level (2% above yesterday's close on a 2x leveraged note). My Broker (IB) argued with the exchange as to why the trades were broken and they said that any pre/postmarket trade that breaks a new high will be broken if they...

Thanks! This should keep me away from the markets today.

    Can Someone Help Me Remember...?

Right at the height of the financial crisis, there was this angry Southern guy who would put up Youtube videos weekly with him going off on all of the things the government was trying to do to fix the crisis, while he had different consumer goods tied to a string in his garage and beat them with...

    Interactive Brokers Market Capping Question

No, and I don't feel I should have to split my purchasing power between two brokers, learn a second platform, work with a second set of API instructions, etc.

    Interactive Brokers Market Capping Question

I just had the worst experience ever trying to trade with Interactive Brokers. I was trying to sell a stock after hours at the same price that it had just closed at. It wasn't executing even though someone was bidding at the same price as my offer, nor was my offer being shown in the market...

    Tax Residency for non-U.S.

What makes you assume that I didn't do any research on my own? I said that in my OP. I put that in there specifically so someone wouldn't put the standard "Google it" line that gets dropped at some point into every thread on this site. If there is any place where I would run into people that...

    Tax Residency for non-U.S.

How beneficial/necessary is it to have a company if you are just trading a single account? Does it make it easier to avoid disputes on where taxes should be paid? & How come bank in another country? Diversification/Privacy purposes? Thanks everyone for the great info on this.

    Tax Residency for non-U.S.

Yeah, sounds fun and rewarding to me. Even if I didn't save more from taxes than what I spent on traveling, the experiences could be great. I have a friend who worked with the U.S. embassy and was sent all over the world for decades. He has phenomenal experiences, stories, outlook on life, a...
