Do monthly inactivity fees offset capital gains?

Thanks, but I can only take those expense deductions if I am classified as a professional trader, right?

Do monthly inactivity fees offset capital gains?

Hi, I am wondering if those monthly inactivity fees can be used to reduce my capital gains for my short term capital gains? I am talking about US tax laws. BTW, I am not classified as a professional trader for tax purposes. I am just normal investor. Thanks!

Cheapest way to get intraday data?

I have been looking for a way to get back into testing some strategies. I used to use Linnsoft and had esignal as my datafeed. The problem was is that they only had like 6-9 months of historical intraday data and I wanted a couple years. I am thinking of purchasing a program like neoticker...

    Blackjack - I'm hooked!

    A) You can't count cards on a internet gambling site because they aren't using a real deck of cards. they are using computer generated random cards based off the probabilities of a real deck. B) I am guessing here, but I don't think it is possible to beat blackjack using any advanced system...

    Pushing It

Well, when you "push it" you are taking more aggressive and riskier plays. If your risk is increasing your "reward target" has to increase also, if not your risk/reward ratio has worsened. And you will also do worse when that happens. If you are going to getm ore aggresive and take more risk...

    Why actively trade ETFs?

Deron, I was wondering if you could explain or link us to an explanation of how you use volume accumulation/distrubution patterns to decipher the action in the major indexes. I've heard good things about your theory. Thanks

    NeoTicker vs. eSignal

I currently use esignal as a data feed for a scanning/backtesting application like neoticker and will probably have to switch to a different data provider like qcharts, because esignal only stores 3 months of intraday data on their servers. Esignal, I like your product, become the #1 resource...

Biggest losing day of the year today...

If you were trading 5000-10000 shares, then you had a 80 cent losing day, thats to be expected occasionally and since you already have had plus one point days you should be very profitable in the long run, especially in light of the 18 out of 20 winning days, keep it up sounds like your doing great

IS there any resource about learning how to trade this sector? I was watching on wednesday when a huge surplus came out, normally this is bearish but the market jumped up and it really confused me.

Possible to create instrument that trades like MA of a stock?

After thinking about it for a sec i realized that it would be impossible to create an instrument that traded like the MA, why? because if you could, you could buy a the 200 MA of a stock that was in a 6month uptrend, the MA of the next day is going to be higher than the MA today, unless the...

Possible to create instrument that trades like MA of a stock?

You're right about stock777, that wouldn't give you anything close to what trades like the MA. Well PM me if you want. Its such a simple idea, but oneif it works would be incredibly profitable, just take a look at any chart with a short time frame ma and think about it.

How have you done in this latest rally?

I think the market has definately changed, the obvious point being that we are currently in a bull market, and shorting anything is just not going to work, I know, I have been so used to fading up moves because of the last year, that I have been getting chewed up doing it the last month. I too...

    NYSE 'investigation'

Is that right, 5 seconds or less? I recently switched platforms about two months ago and suspect that my direct plus fills are slower now. I used to always get a fill at 3 seconds, I was using Sterling whoch I believe does not order to dot/isi, and now my fills range from 3 seconds to 6...
