    Hubert Senters left TTM?

Does anyone have any details on this? That seems like a huge deal for TTM, I would never have guessed this would happen. Did John Carter and Hubert have a falling out? It got announced here: http://www.tradethemarkets.com/public/NQ-Got-the-Rip.cfm

    My view/prediction for AAPL FB

I get what you're saying, but the markets have ways of discounting value. Look at companies like Dell, Cisco and MSFT. They have been value traps for a long time. The expectation, based on the stock price, is that AAPL's earnings will fall, and their PE will begin to match their price...

    My view/prediction for AAPL FB

I was long FB 500 shares from $19 to $24. Stupidly sold 1 day before it jumped to $26. Got long with 15 calls at $27 and sold 10 over the last few days. I'll hold this last batch of 5 until expiration, I'm hoping for > $34 after earnings. AAPL I think will get close to filling the gap at...

How safe is my account at IB?

Thanks for all the helpful answers. Unfortunately, I'm a bit more confused now with all this additional information. When a broker like IB/MF Global goes bankrupt, is the only thing at risk the cash in the account? If I had my stock in securities, or even some sort of security like a CD...

How safe is my account at IB?

I currently have an IB account, but I'm thinking of consolidating all my accounts (including IRA, etc) into IB because of the cheaper commissions. I would like to understand my risk, given the entire MF Global fiasco. I understand that IB has a huge reserve, bigger than basically everyone...

Did Robert Hoffman really lose 312K in a single TF trade? Yikes!

Any idea why he and TTM broke up? It didn't seem like a mutual breakup from the responses I've seen.

    2012: The Battle for Survival

Out of curiosity, do you keep stuff like historical data and backtest your strategies against it? I'm curious to know how well your current strategies would have performed at your nadir a few months ago, if it would have saved you from a bigger loss.

    2012: The Battle for Survival

Great week again, neke! What do you think changed? It was pretty dismal the first many months of this year, but the last 5 weeks you've been on fire. Do you have an idea of what changed to spark this? Maybe you can develop a filter that helps you to cut back on your trades when this...

QuoteTracker being shut down for good?

I meant historical backfill thru QT, not thru TWS.

QuoteTracker being shut down for good?

For what it's worth, the historical backfill appears to work from IB.

QuoteTracker being shut down for good?

That's what I'm seeing as well. I am unpatched, and I am connected to IB but I can't backfill any of my charts, but it shows whatever data after I started QT. I switched to my data feed to IQFeed, and I can't backfill any of my charts either. This appears to have just happened over this...

    2012: The Battle for Survival

Congrats on the great week! Are you able to find any correlations to the markets that explain your great performance you're having now vs the poorer performance you experience in the recent past? Is it a function of the markets, ie. are they behaving more predictable, or maybe some other factor?

How to bring it to the next level

I got to 10 by literally just going for it and being terrified, but trying to keep my emotions in check. With 10 contracts, a move in the opposite direction for me translates usually to about $500-1000 loss which hurts but I can stomach. But if I take the same tactic with 20 contracts...

How to bring it to the next level

Thanks everyone. I think I'll take the majority opinion and scale up 1 contract per month or so. That's the most rational way of doing it. I have never gone on margin in my life while trading with stocks and options (only futures), so blowing up my account that way isn't going to occur...

How to bring it to the next level

My discretionary trading has been getting better over the last year, and more consistent. I've been able to keep my winners longer and get rid of my losers quicker. And I've been able to take decent risks without going too crazy, and only make a couple of mistakes. I've very familiar now...

CNBC Guest alleges: NFLX Cooking the Books

PCLN is at $650. It's going the opposite way of your prediction. It's 2012. Are you going to admit you were wrong? Or are you going to sim-reshort some more shares?

Software to construct a continuous contract?

What is your definition of a "continous contract"? Is it based on volume, or based on contract expiration date, etc? I download quotes for a bunch of different expirations into a single database table, then I run a SQL query to group they by date and contract, and then delete all contracts...

There was just a news thing on CNBC where they were saying there was something fishy about the IPO. I only caught the tail end of it so I'm not sure what they were saying, did anyone catch the entire thing?

    Dealing with data feed diversity...

Yes I agree, it's VERY hard to understand what the original poster's questions are or what the organization of the program is. Essentially what you need to do is break down both feeds into primitives so that they are both giving you the same information. This means normalizing the data into...

Download of free historic price data

Can you give a link where FXCM says you can download copyright free data? I also highly doubt that they would provide this.
