1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

I agree 100%, just curious what their rationale for this crap is.

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

The NYTimes link appears to be down. I haven't read the proposal, but if they are trying to protect the "small investor", wouldnt' this tax still have a large effect on Mutual Funds? The tax/expenses would be very large. No one would ever have an investment that produced tax efficient growth...

Repair of a broken bear call spread?

My advice is the same as heiasafari. Look at it as a new position? Would you still do it then? There is nothing wrong with a losing trade.

Repair of a broken bear call spread?

What was your exit/management before you entered the trade in case this happened?

    Options Books

The book you linked is the one I'm talking about. I think Natenberg is great when it comes to Volatility/Pricing/etc. I think there are many others on this board that would agree Natenberg's work on Volatility is excellent. Perhaps there are some that would strongly disagree too - I find that...

    Options Books

The first 2 are favorites of mine. I highly reccomend them. Natenberg is also a must. There are many strategies covered including straddles, strangles, and ratios (among others).

Anybody read either of these books?

I have not read the first two. Ron knows his stuff though. Jeff Augen's books are fantastic. I highly reccomend them (and did earllier today on another thread). S

New Computer, Vista, 64 bit, video cards

Out of those, I would probably go with the 435 as well. I have no experience with Vista (nor do I want any). ATI HD - I have no idea about this one. Before I started trading a few years back, I used ATI and it was fine for what I needed. My needs are just different now. NewEgg is my site...

New Computer, Vista, 64 bit, video cards

Personally, I had issues with ATI cards. I've always built my own computers. Currently I'm running with a motherboard that has built in video ( 2 ports) and I have a second NVIDIA card for another 2 monitors. Works like a dream for me. S

    Option Spread Trader, New Beginning

Kedwards, Good luck in your journey. TOS has some fantastic tools to help you learn. My advice to you is make sure your approach/method (I don't like the term 'system') is solid and ordered. Don't get caught "peaking" into the future on the platform and start telling yourself "I would have...

To be a winner, do like winners: winners don't trade!

Fantastic post. "The Alchemy of Finance" by Soros is a great read if you want insight into the daily grind of a TRADER. Take a look at the top earning traders the last few years: Simons, Arnold,PTJ, Shaw. I'm pretty sure they dont' "Invest". S

Making money with MP and James Dalton

Vespian, There are a couple concepts of MP that I use in my trading (POC and HV/LV). I have adapted them to fit my needs. IMHO, MP has a lot of discretionary & unclear concepts to be used as a stand alone method. Datlon's book is OK. You will find some useful information in there. I...
