    Does it need to be free to are you willing to pay? Most real-time brokers offer real-time news to subscribers. You can usually turn off all the filters to see all news but you will be overwhelmed.

    I would say today's best platform front-end is TradeStation. In fact, multicharts copied it pixel for pixel. TradeStation as a platform has many issues (data and broker reliability), but the look and functionality is near the top of retail platforms.

    What has become of anfutures.com?

    I was discussing this with another ET member a few weeks ago. I am not sure what is wrong with the anfutures site. Last time I was on was back in March and everything was working fine. If you do a google search, they were active until the last few weeks.

    Not many tick providers when searching. tickplusdata.com I have never used them so do your research. Tick is always going to cost more than intraday (minute+) so first make sure your application needs tick level prices.

    I have used them in the past and they were ok. No data is perfect. My big problem with is99 was the layout. Pain in the a** to work with. I am currently using a mix of anfutures and pitrading historical data and am satisfied overall. Finding the right provider is a little trial-n-error...
