It can be useful along with other indicators. Just MACD is not very useful in my opinion.

    Trend Following Strategies

They are right to be skeptical. You are wasting your time with the exit problem in my opinion. These are 50-year-old questions. There are no answers. If there were any, everyone would be rich. Trend following requires high diversification. With some trades, you will exit early, with some close...

Is price movement really random and unpredictable?

The theory is true in the long term. In the short term, there are pockets of predictability due to luck or some skill. Short-term can be 20 or 30 years. All traders and investor lose their wealth at some point due to the randomness. Getting out of the market when hitting target wealth is the key...

    Overnight Effect

Interesting article on the overnight effect with nice graphics. I presume heavy options volume has made day trading more relevant than in the past. A win for the market makers.Citadel is printing money.

Tell me some candlestick patterns and their forecasts

The correlation was high some years ago. They worked reasonably well for some time. After QE and Fed driving asset prices up non-stop, with BTD ruling price action, and options dealers hedging after meme stocks and 0DTE, those candles have fainted.

Tell me some candlestick patterns and their forecasts

You will need lots of context to make them work. They generate many false signals. They are good to watch. I like the shooting star and the rising three methods but without some confirmation the failure rate is high.

Adding ETFs to diversify an equity portfolio

This article is from last year but the ETF mix is what is relevant. All Weather Portfolio Vs. 60/40 and Buy and Hold Based on my calculations All Weather is returning sub 10% this year but this serves as a possible model one could consider switching to when a bull market is about to end. The...

    Candlestick probability

Candlesticks are very small sub class of price patterns. There is program DLPAL S that can find many of those with required statistics but determining if they are fitted or robust is a challenge. Some turn out to be predictive.

    Riding out the draw down

I was reading this article yesterday and thinking about drawdown. I believe most are not able to deal with drawdown greater than 20% and their actions make it even worse.

You can never know that because the drivers of profits can disappear anytime.
