    Genesis Laser stops: any updates/solutions?

Has there been a solution regarding the laser stops for scalpers? As I remember, the stop loss in level II had huge lag/slippage. The OMS stop was a bit better, but takes up to 30 seconds to set up...which is way too long. Any updates? Third party support to fix it?

leaving a paying job to day trade-experienced day traders please help

You are implying that a "clockwork" system equates to every trade succeeding. A "clockwork" system could also be defined as something that profits regularly with low drawdowns.

Comparison of Retail brokers and Prop firms

Correct, not all retail brokers do it. I know Scottrade and Fidelity do. I don't think TDAmeritrade does, but you would have to check to make sure. edit: Another thing you might want to figure into your cost is the fills you're getting.

Comparison of Retail brokers and Prop firms

Some retail firms charge extra for orders over 1,000 shares or to trade stocks are under $2, OTC, etc. ex: $9 per trade, with an additional .01 per share for any share amount over 1000 or stock priced under $2

    Sterling Trader or Lightspeed

Lightspeed for speed/reliability. Charts aren't great on either, Sterling has a slight edge.

    Forward test with odd lots?

The strategy wouldn't be share heavy (max 400, more than likely ~200) with several dozen open positions at once. Partial fills and averages won't have a large impact and are easier to calculate.

    Forward test with odd lots?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I was thinking that even if they tripled the ECN cost per share...I'm still talking pennies. Getting worse fills makes sense, and would makes for an even better forward test as the results really need to stand out to make up for it.

    Forward test with odd lots?

Is there any ECN that will allow 1 share lots to forward test automated strategies for realistic fills or is considered taboo?

What is your average gross return per share?

The point of the thread is not to compare ROI. The point is to determine the average gross return per share. This number allows you to see, like you said, what type of trader you are. Someone making .005 per share can make six figures easily, as long as they have the volume. Others, like...

What is your average gross return per share?

And what kind of volume do you do? Mine is pretty high at an average of $0.051 a share, but my volume is incredibly low (around 50,000 shares a month). How about you guys?

    Sterling Level II crossed prints

Is there anyway to fix the crossing market on the level II? When the volume ramps up, it's hard to even look at the L2 to see what the current price/spread is

    financial stability

I'm assuming you're talking about Lightspeed. You can check out their SEC filings here: http://sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?action=getcompany&CIK=0000916916&owner=exclude&count=40 If it's not Lightspeed, you can use the search feature and might be able to find some of the filings.

What do you look for in your charting and execution software?

What makes you use the particular software that you use? For me, my main conern is the stability and time lag with quotes and data.

How Much Are Your Costs Per Share

    The .2/1000 and 50% payout vs. $5/1000 and 98% payout really depends on what type of trader you are. ex 1: If you trade 5,000 shares a day and gross $200. Gross/share = $.04 .2/1000 would be: (5 x .2)=$1 200 - 1= $199 199 x .5 = $99.5 net $5/100 would be: 5 x 5 = $25 200 - 25 =...

    Sterling Pro in Demo mode

If commission is .001/share, it would cost $2 because you have to buy 1000 shares AND sell 1000 shares for a total of 2000. So that would mean a $2 profit off 1000 shares. What would your risk return be? Your stop? Let's say you have 25 winners in a row, for a $50 profit. Then on your...

    Lightspeed hotkeys questions

I trade stocks that tend to run up real fast and subsequently could give up gains very quickly as well . Positions are held for a maximum of 2 minutes. The 50% closeout wouldn't be for trades going against me, but exiting stocks that are running up and securing profits that might have a high...
